I think your GSL-SE deserves a well built 13REW, single turbo, stand-alone...the works. I would swap your SP 13b in the new FB....Just my .02.

Nothing lays down the law like a 400whp FB....

Some nice heads/intake and a mild cam.

Possibly even a built AOD instead of a T5.

If you are interested in a Mustang V8 and AOD setup I have a '90 GT I am thinking of getting rid of fairly cheap. I am the original owner. The engine has about 190K and is all stock and all original, never been into it. It and would be a good candidate if you were going to do a rebuild with mods. The transmission was rebuilt about 50K ago but the third gear clutches have started slipping when they engage. I was planning to fix all the little things with it and put it back on the road but bought a '85 GSL-SE in March and am busy playing with it. Let me know if you are interested.

190k, it must be near death. transmission slipping on a ford, then the next thing is the oil leaks, then poof, transmission is out. Sits for a week or two, little stuff messes up because it was sitting and then just more and more problems.

next thing you know, a piston seal falls out.

I would say, just take the engine out, get it boiled, and start from there.

Actually the engine is still running strong. Not making quite as much HP as it once did but no smoke and no leaks. I still drive it occasionally but there are several little issues that keep it from being a daily driver. All the little things add up quickly to be not worth the total expense to fix. AC leaks down and needs to be redone, rack and pinion has slack, headliner coming down, gas gauge quit working, windshield cracked, paint heavily faded, etc... That is why I was thinking it would be a good donor car (with appropriate engine refresh and trans rebuild). And all those problems are why I am willing to part with it cheaply. As you suggested it is mostly sitting in my driveway slowly rotting away and costing me insurance premiums.
