what should I think of this?

recently a garage misdiagnosed my shutter valve as a carb issue, rebuilt the carb my self and got no improvement (before I knew it was a shutter valve), brought it to another garage and in "properly" doing my carb they put the sub zero start assist system on to a regular vacume line, missplaced one of the oil metering lines, lost the carbstud wing nut and striped a regular nut back on, stripped a bolt in the carb body that is suposed to hold down the air horn, and lost bolts, several of them

what I am wondering is if that I could have blown an apex seal at the same time, or because of the shutter valve or if the blown apex seal could have ruined the shutter valve, I am also wondering if any of the confusion with the vacuum lines could have caused this blown engine, the car was running smooth and quick, it easily lit up both tires for 10 feet or so until I was just driving down the highway at about 3000rpm it just lost alll power, thats when this all began, so yesterday I was forced to pay Done Right Imports 275 and change for "properly" doing my carb and I only paid them because they were giong to impound me for theft of a service that I would have rather not recieved if I could have seen this coming, anyways does it sound like I brought them a blown engine or a does it sound like........ I just want to hear some feed back or what you think could have happened,

personally I wouldn't have paid them, I would have said that my car was in tip top condition running condition...in fact the best condition it has been in, in years and until I came into your shop to get the carb tuned it worked fine but after leaving the engine blew and my engines missing several nuts and bolts...some bolts are stripped and lines are criss crossed that arn't supposed to be criss crossed...you'll be talking to my lawyer on the costs to rebuild my motor to brand new...

Man that sucks, bro I've been in the same situation before some shop screws my car worst then it was when I gave it to them, and then they refused to give up the car till I paid them, Sad part is that in order to get your money back you have to go to all legalities and the next thing you know you end spending more money then you wanted to,,,
Let me tell you what I did I brought my car to a shop for getting my water pump changed( This was before I was mechanically inclined) bring the car home , get up the next morning and my car those not wanna start, couldn't fiqure what it was, had my cousin come over remove the spark plug crank the engine and a little bent piece of metal comes flying out,
I tell the shop they said they have nothing to do with it and that I all-ready sighned paper excepting thier work, Could you believe the ***** that owned the shop said he'll give me a deal on looking at the car...
I got my car club together, we planted our asses in front of the shop every weekend for 1 month, with a huge sighn saying Brought my car here a cherry, got back a Lemon,
anyways you can see people with thier blinkers on about to turn into the shop, but after they saw us they kept moving, Long story short the owner came out gave me my money back, and paid for car to get fixed at another shop that worked on ROTARTy's
Hope that makes you fell alittle better

And a camera or videotape. You may not find the nut if you have straight through exhaust. If you still have a cat it will be there, or wedged between the housing and rotor.

There is also an off chance that the wing nut made a very identifiable impression in the rotor face.

Good luck. I know this sucks. With them wanting paid or impounding so quickly, it makes me wonder if they didn't f'up and were in a big hurry to get you out of there, to cover up thier mistake.

Thats what I thought about the wing nut but they were convinsed that it wouldnt fit, but I still have cats, but they called me at work a few days after they got it and were sure that my exhaust was plugged because it still wasnt running right, after they fixed the carb, but the exhaust has plenty of flow at the tail pipe I said but they believed that there was a major restriction in the cat, so

Open it up and see if the Wing nut is in the Engine. Bet that is where it went.
definatly with witnesses and on video, I bet they found the nut but I hope it left a good mark, but this just accelerated my plans to upgrade I hopefully get the engine from parts car back in about 2 weeks or so, so I can look inside the one I'm forced to use for now,

thanx to all for the input,
