Ok.. I know I have a first gen, but when i got it, the emblems and such were removed? How can I tell what I have? GSL or what ever... lol sorry newb question but what ever.. I'm learning.

 

A GSL will have:
limited slip rearend, and disc brakes in the rear
*usually* power windows, mirrors, locks
and depending on the interior color and year, the seats would have a red stripe down the middle of them

i thought the gsl have an lsd but drums and the se had lsd but discs also......

 

No.. GSL's have discs in the rear too. The gear ratio's are different, but otherwise the same. I think the axles were different too..

 

Do a search for VIN Identification. There are multiple threads that have links to VIN identifications.

 

Here's the easy way to tell as long as everything is stock:

Disk rear brakes = GSL
Power side mirrors = GS
Neither = Base

 

My GSL has power side mirriors and its stock :/

 

My GS was only missing two options, and that is the power windows, and glass sunroof (other than the body stuff which was a big option).

 

Jeez. He means that the Gs has the power mirrors over the base model. The GSL has the power mirrors and the disks. DO NOT apply for the stock trader job.

Yep sounds like it. Base has power nothing. Sorry, I misread mirrors and thought it said windows. My bad. I am stupid, whatever

 

sorry... I just got my 7 like 3 days ago, its my first car, so i dont know much.

 

Sooo.... that means that my GX is actually just base. I was told that it was the canadian equivalent to the GS or GSL [can't remember which.]

I was also under the impression that some GSL's came w/o the LSD, and those came with drum brakes.

DAMN! I wish my '83 were in better shape than my '82. I guess I'll have to live with it though.
