What is this part for?

I cant figure out what this thing is! It is located just behind the windshield washer fluid. it has 1 cable connecting to the carb and, i dont think i need it so i wanna take it off! So how would i go about doing this guys???

You can disconnect the cable, it's kind of a PITA but it would be a lot better than just cutting it.

i think he is talking about the cold start assist, the cruise control is on the drivers side.

depends on the year my 79 does not have cruise and the cold start assist is on the drivers side

Do you guys mean the hot start assist, or the sub-zero assist?

Hot start assist is on the drivers' side; sub-zero (some cars only) is a tank of fluid on the psg side.

Pic looks like a cruise control to me, but I never had that option.

mmm... not so sure about other models, but my 85 GSL cruise was on the passenger side right up against the firewall above cold start assist or w/e bottle

hmmm, my 85 gs cruise was on the drivers side.
