What is this nikki carby solenoid?

Hey guys,

Just in a bit of confusion about this solenoid. I've narrowed it down to two options: either the coasting richer solenoid, or the idle richer solenoid. Hopefully someone can clear it up for me (pics taken from someone else's carby).

I know the manual says that it's the coasting richer solenoid (it's in the same location), however the pin and flange on this one is different from their illustration. Also it's wired up a bit strange on mine, in parallel to the idle switch. The main thing that makes me doubt that it's the coasting richer solenoid is that there is no coasting valve on my 7, and I'm pretty sure it never did have one (had to rip off all the factory rats nest etc recently). Knowing that the two work together (coasting valve + coasting richer solenoid) makes me doubt that this would be the coasting richer solenoid when there's no coasting valve.

Basically I'm trying to figure out what it does, and what to do with it. Thinking that it was the idle richer solenoid, I covered it with a plate and cut the pin down and stuck it back in there, so that the line is jammed shut.

Advice would be appreciated. Cheers!

You can find a full explanation of all these parts (much better than the manual) at www.sterlingmetalworks.com
