Talking What are my options for a new hood?

I'm getting tired of my hood scoop, and I'm trying to score a Fiber-glass hood or Carbon-fiber if anyone has done this yet. I know where to get the Fiber-glass hood, but what's the latest news on the CF hoods. I'll hold out for the CF if it is not too far away.
anybody???

I'm surprised to find that 'they' are making a CF hood for the 1st gen. Whenever I find aftermarket parts tough to locate the excuse I get is FBs are so cheap no one wants to buy a part worth more than the car. A hood is a substantial amount of CF and would cost a fortune

Ditto, I can't imagine anyone making any money doing that. I personally wouldn't want that **** on my FB.

I know but I think I MAY need something like thta, the upper intake plenium looks really close with the stock hood. Funny how with the orginal 12A mount the hood was on fine, but with the RB one, it looks really close, like they moved the mount upward or something?

I maybe stuck, hacking up my hood to get a hood scoop on there cause of the intake

If it's clearance you want, why not create a 'power bulge' instead of a fake scoop? Cut a hole just big enough for clearance and craft a fibreglass or metal piece to bond with the metal hood, sand, and paint into place. Think of Eagle Talons, Miatas, 280z's, etc. that use a bulge in the hood to solve clearance problems.

I can't see how a fibregalss or CF hood would solve this clearance problem as they'll both require more structural bracing to keep 'em from flopping around.

Josh found me! I just made the brackets to bolt the oe hinges to the hood. I am working on glassing them to the hood and lining everything up. My first hood is fiberglass for my race car, I will make carbon ones as people request them. I will have pics as soon as it is complete!!!

Thumbs up yeah

You want pics of my scoop installed on the hood?

I'll sure try to get a camera and get some webspace.

But basically my picture is a good example of how not to do your hood scoop!!
