Before anyone yells search, I have been searching for days and all I'm getting is a ton of confusion on this. I have a GS converted to GSL-SE suspension so.......... My question is, what is the lowest offset wheel I can run on a GSL-SE with stock fenders without rubbing. I'm planning to use 15x7 wheels all around. I am trying to get as close to the fenders as possible without rubbing. (on the front I have coil overs with new perches welded on) I have read alot of threads with people yelling +38 offset because that is stock for the gsl-se but I'm not buying that. I don't see how you can have any kind of a lip on the wheels with that offset. that's like a front wheel drive offset.

I am not willing to put flares so please don't include those choices. I would be willing to roll the fenders so please specify if fender rolling is required with your suggested offsets.

the lowest offset I have found in the search function is a +27 on a gsl-se. Has anyone tried anything lower? Pics appreciated.

Hmmmm, I'm thinking due to my turbo motor, I might want to run 8 inchers in the back, if you could also give a recommended offset for the rear running an 8 inch wheel. thanks

 

i think 4.5 inch backspace would do well for you

 

i'm pretty sure that an 8 inch wheel with 0 offset wll fit.

hell, from what i measured, you should be able to fit a 10 inch wide wheel with 0 offset, going to stick out a little though

Check out Kentetsus car, if i remember correctly he has 4 inch backspacing on 8 inch wheels and they stick out a bit.

 

Thanks for the info so far guys. I am looking for the wheel to sit as close to the fender as possible without rubbing (that means no sticking out). I'll roll the fenders if needed. The car is lowered with Re speed adjustables front and rear. Zero offset will not work. I tried a set that my friend had on his corolla. With zero offset, they stuck out an inch or 2. Keep the ideas coming.

 

the explorer wheels i have fit nicely 15x7 4.5 backspace but they are 5 lug, they clear the coilovers with no modifying on 195 50s, going to try 205 50 next

 

stock offset for a gsl-se is +40. i have 16x7 with +40 offset and 205 /50/16 tires and have about 1/4 in clearance on the front strut

 

In the front I am running 17x8 with a 22mm offset AND a 3mm spacer for a total offset of 19mm.
I had to roll the fenders but they fit FLUSH... no sticking out of any sort.
In the rear I am running 17x9 with a 27mm offset. They stick out about 3mm so I have tires that are stretched a little for clearance..
I believe with a 15 or 16 inch rim we could probably get away with 20mm with no issues.

Is your car a GSL-SE or the suspension been swapped to the SE? I just have to double check because the offsets differ for the SE.

iirc lwnslw has 5 lug as well, so i don't think it really matters...

 

thanks for pointing that out, I didnt catch that. I know that the RE-speed brake upgrade is supposed to maintain the stock offset for the most part, I think it might change it just a tad. But the question is, does it keep the offset like the gsl-se or does it keep it like a non se.

I would consider upgrading to 5 lug if I could find the wheels that I want in the proper offset.

 

I have a set of 15x7 Enkei's with a 0 offset that fit well, no rubbing.

 

Your car looks goooood. I want to go for mesh wheels. My car will sit alot lower than yours though. Those 0 offset wheels stick out past the fenders correct?

 

about flush. That's my old car that rusted out. I need to repair one of the wheels for my new car.

 

the respeed bb kit should make it similar to the se. i tried a few wheels, but i am a college student and don't have much money... also the se wheels are 14x5.5 +40 so they should be about 4.25? stock fc wheels were like 15x6.5 +40. which would be 5.25?

Backspacing makes more sense to me, offset just confuses me

Wanted to correct myself as i realized my calc was wrong. It would be a +3 offest, not 25 offset like i said previously.

All I know is the less the offset number, the more the wheels stick out. I'm not too sure about backspacing or how to use offset with backspace to get proper size.

 

About flush huh? I'll have to borrow my friends 0 offset wheels that he's running on his corolla and test fit them.

Yea word to the wise, Im running a Toyota Rear end, My setup is actually a 17x10 +18, however, This rear end is 1/2 inch longer per side, thus my reference to +3 offset to fit.

YES..my car is an original GSL-SE. I installed RE-Speed's big brake kit both Front and Rear (complete with Moser axles) with TII calipers and disc all around. The offset did NOT change with the conversion as everything still is pretty much in stock location. As stated, the rear wheels do stick out about 2mm but with stretched tires it is a good fit. The front fit fine with the setup on it now, they are flush with the fenders. All 4 fenders have been rolled for better clearance.

On another note... I had 0 offset Panasports that I tried on the car prior to my 5-lug conversion and they stick out past the fenders on a true GSL-SE. It has been discussed on here before and 0 offset's will NOT work on a GSL-SE. They will work on all other FB's.
