I have only done about 600 miles round trip.

Do have to say I would love to go on a long trip in my rex. Although I am 6'2 the seats and driver position are perfect for me!
I am trying to make an excuse to go on a long road trip.

Any sugestions were I should go?? Im on southern Washington.

I drove from Michigan to Southern California in 2.5 days (2400 miles). With the stock suspension, it was a pretty comfortable ride. I've also taken some round trips that were 1000, 700, 400, 300 miles from time to time.

used to do 300mi round trip every weekend. sometimes i'd drive 400mi or so after work just because... i'd just pick a direction and go, drive around, either go out and back or drive around in a big loop. either way i'd get home reeeeally late, stay up the rest of the night, and be perpetually falling asleep at work the next day (but hey, free coffee at work)

Kind of off-topic, but what the heck it's late. I've done the 600-mile round trip from Seattle to Spokane about 50 times in the last 2 years, and I've seen another first-gen RX-7 on the road only one time, on all those trips! We have lots of first-gens in the Seattle area (and Porsches and etc), but damn.. once you get out of the metro area, the sports cars are almost nonexistant on the highways. It sucks. It's just pickup truck after SUV after minivan, ad nauseum ad infinitum forever. And they're no fun.

Definitely a shortage of RX-7s out in the middle of nowhere.

That is because they are all torn up in my yard. well only 2 of them. You have to remember that our 20 year old cars have high mileage and really don't carry the kids to well. that is what the mini van is for. In moses lake we have about 3 FBs still in operation. numerous FC's including a GTUs ( no sh*t) and a silver touring FD. When I lived in tacoma and my 83 g still worked we had a GXL and a RX-4 wagon belonging to different tennants in our apartment. Anyways I think I only logged 6-8 hours in my FB. in a day.

Hey, Richard.. I always look forward to driving thru Moses Lake (that's a TOWN, people).. and it's cool that I saw two different FBs this summer, on the road that runs parallel to I-90.. and they were nice ones, too!

But seeing an FB out on the highway, that's another matter.

I've been driving mine for about 6 months. The furthest I've driven it in one go is 30kms.

I only see a few 1st gens around, but on my summer holiday last year I saw heaps of them up in the hippy region of my island.

Is the RX-7 a hippy's car? It couldn't be, surely?

Bye,
ScruffyChimp

2 hours to brainerd raceway, the hardest I have ever pushed my car. 120mph and 6k for a hour and 15 minutes strait in a donnybrook caravan, no problems whatsoever. I had a headache though.

I've did a few long trips. From California to North Carolina. California to Kentucky and back(twice). Across Germany(North to South) and back.

Every two-three weeks I drive home for a long wekend, the distance varying from 1,600 to 2,500 miles over 2 lane highways. Once at where I am working, I use a 4 wheel drive or plane depending on who bad the roads are. The RX has never let me down, will just hum along for hours on end at 75-80 mph returning around 28 mpg.

Previously it was a little easier, 800 mile round trip every weekend from work to my holiday cottage.

Early this year I radioed ahead to let them know I was coming. The response was don't come the road is a little wet. No problem I am in a 4wheel drive. Could still be a problem its 6 feet deep in places!

I just got back from Saskatchewan a few days ago (i live in Calgary)
I went for 2 days, approx: 1100k one way
I made record time getting there 1100k = 8hrs
But, it took me 9 to get back.

There may be nothing but wheat and tractors to see along the way....... but i love the miles and miles of open road.

On one stretch of road (i could see all the way to the horizon) i had my baby doing 175 kph, for about 1/2 hour. With not a single car in sight!!!!

i drove my current Rx-7 from NY to FL, but i didn't really have much fun doing it. i had just put my motor in it and there were many things that i had not done yet (fuel pump, oil cooler, etc.)

however, my favorite trip was in the Rx-7 i had before this one ... my Blue '83 ... damn! i went all over in that car. however, my most memorable trip was from NY to Charlottesville, VA in the winter of '93/'94. funny thing is ... it's probably the slowest i've ever driven it. my sister and i got into a blizzard from White Marsh, MD all the way back to the Bronx. it took me 6 hours to drive up the Jersey Turnpike (for those who don't know, it's about 125 miles) in snow that was over my ankle - just to contrast and show you, it took me 6 hours to drive down to VA.
but i refused to stop and pull over. had one major spin (and a few minor ones) ... drove all that way, just to get stuck at the intersection by my driveway. anyway, i'll never forget that trip or my '83.

It's 1,100 km from S'toon to Cowgary? *****, it must be 3,500 to Vancouver, then, not 2,000...
