what kind of difference to expect?

hello all. I have a 79 rx7, and i just bought a dellorto 48 carb for it, along with racing beat upper and lower intake manifolds and a new fuel filter. I havent installed it yet, but i was wondering what i should expect when i put this set-up on my car. And if anyone has a set-up similar to this i was wondering if u like it. i appreciate ur help.

I've heard that it has driveablility issues under 50 degrees F. But other than that just hold on and hope you have good brakes.

In reality the difference will be only around 10-15% at peak power, less lower down. The 1/4 mile time will be less than 1 second quicker.

As the next step you need to fit a better exhaust/muffler system to take better advantage of the potential. Also make certain the carb is tuned right otherwise you will be going backwards, and end up with the major difference being a much higher fuel bill! The problem is, its an old fashioned historic sidedraft, inadequate supply of spares, and few people know how to tune them. But yes, they can be tuned with a lot of patience to give a good performance if not quite up to the reference performance of a Weber 48IDA.

My own opinion is, having just a stock port the difference in performance over a well set up Nikki will be disappointing. You will have to streetport to get the real benefit.
