Has it been a long time since you hit high revs? Might have just been blowing the carbon out.

Make sure your oil level is not too high, but otherwise if it went away and hasn't been back I wouldn't worry about it.

Something very similar happened to me about a year ago, I was driving my white 84 GSL and floored it to get ahead of traffic so I could make it into the exit lane, more acceleration than I would normally put on my daily driver.

A HUGE cloud of whitish/bluish smoke came out, way more than anything I'd seen before or since, I couldn't even see the car behind me. Like you, I was worried, but the car ran fine afterward, oil consumption remained the same and I put another 20 or 30,0000 miles on that original 12A before it finally decided to give up the ghost last summer with 170,000 miles on it.

My guess is some added compression or stress from the rapid acceleration temporarily opened up a seal somewhere and let a dollup of oil into the combustion chamber. As long as you don't beat on the car you may be lucky and never see it again.

Thank you kind sir.Taking this from you i feel 100 percent better. Is there any kind of additive i can use on next oil change to help in the long run.I only put about 15 miles or so a day if that on it.

I've had success with Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer for controlling oil consumption. Great stuff.

Also, a can of Seafoam in the gas tank every couple of months seems to keep a rotary happy.

i dont use hardly any oil at all.I would like to say none.I am scared to do the Seafoam now because it may open up something.

Kent is right on, sea foam in the tank, Lucas or an equivalent oil stabilizer in the crank. Your 12A will be happy.

On the zero oil consumption thing, is your OMP functional or are you premixing? 12A's like getting oil in with the gas, whether it's from the OMP, premix or leaking seals.

Also, you might want to find an excuse to drive it more, my 12A's are always happiest after twenty minutes out on I85.

Just to be clear on this, I am NOT recommending that you put Seafoam in with the oil. Only through the gas tank.

Ok,it did it again,About 20 minutes ago i was coming home from the store and a 240 came up on me,playing with me.Again i happend to be in 3rd gear.I pushed on the gas, speedo was about 65ish or so and "smoke".My 1st and second gears are shorter then 3rd"duh".I can use third to pull away nice.So the person i bought the car from said being i havent really "gotten" on the car much,my omp could be pumping alot of oil while im staying in third longer and harder then any other gear.I have a Holley 465 with a RB intake.I had to "rig" the lines and linkage because it did not have them.Does this sound right. This car barely smokes at all. When it sits a couple days, then start it a little, thats it.

it COULD be that the omp is overworking at higher rpm's. you can remove the lines from the carb, insert the end of the llines into a clear jar and rev the engine by hand and observe the oil output. is this becoming consistent and at lower rpm's?

Yes, lots of oil goes into the float bowl and can cause "loading up" at idle and smoking under certain conditions. I rigged the OMP lines to run into both sides of the float bowl on my Edelbrock (you pretty much have to on this type of car) and the same thing occurs. Mazda routed their OMP lines directly to the float bowls on early Nikkis (twin dizzy) so I figured I could do it too.

It dose"not" do it at lower rpms. Its hard to explain.I dont stay in first or second long,no need to.Third is where i spank people"lol".Once i go to 4th i have to stop.I wont achieve a good vacuum in nutrel for it to smoke cause i have no load?

Have you checked your OMP output? I ask because you mentioned earlier that the car using practically no oil, yet if the OMP is functioning properly you should be having to top off the oil from time to time.

If the OMP isn't delivering enough oil, that could account for the unusually low oil consumption you mention. Obviously the danger would be that engine components are wearing out faster than they should and this could be a factor in your new fumigation problem. But I hope not.

Anyway, to address both this concern and the one Dave brings up about too much OMP output, you may want to do the FSM test on the OMP.

When the car is running or being driven, you can see oil"build up?" in the carb, primaries.I meant by oil usage as burning oil, smoking.I only have about 500 miles put on the car so its hard to tell how much oil i use because i dont drive it all the time, everyday. The car was just put on the road and this just started to happen after it was made road worthy.

Could be signs that the oil control o rings are getting hard and brittle.

If you were in gear and you closed the throttle just before getting into it, you pull a high vacuum in the combustion chamber which pulls oil past the control o rings. You get on it and that oil burns off. Smoke screen.

Mine did that all of the time before I rebuilt the engine. Harmless but somewhat embarrassing.

You don't drive your car hard Vince? *shakes head*. The two FB's that I've purchased, the PO's babied them and couldn't figure out why they were smoking profusely. After a couple of good, hard redline pulls in 1st and 2nd during the test drive (with the then-owner subsequently freaking out), the smoke cleared and all was good. Both owners were shocked and stated that it was the best the car had ever ran in the time that they owned them. Then I purchased the cars. It could be that things are just gunked up and you need to blow out the grossness of sitting/babying the engine. Get yourself a working tach, fill up with sea foam, 1 quart of ashless 2-stroke, and gas, and drive the **** out of the car (don't exceed redline) and your motor will be happy.

Check your OMP. Rebuild kits are $25 through Pineapple Racing, and they include a how-to DVD.

If it's not a fresh rebuild and the omp is functioning, considering the amount and type of driving you have stated, you probably have a combination issue. Both have been stated. 1. Your clearing out build up. 2. Your "loading" the carb. The Seafoam and oil treatment will help either way, then just drive her like she's meant to be driven for awhile. Dollars to donuts the issue dissappears.
