Question Is this what I've been looking for??

Hello everyone,

For those of you who don't already know, I have the pacesetter header which was correctly identified thanks to help from many of you.

I've been told that it is a very restrictive setup, and can actually decrease horsepower. To make a long story short, I'm gonna sell the Pacesetter header and collector on ebay and put the money towards a similar mindtrain or RB setup.

I emailed kickyride.com to find out about a price on a mindtrain header that will BOLT UP TO A STOCK EXHAUST. I think I'm going to leave the cat on for simplicity at this point. No word from them yet.

Did some searching on my own for Racing Beat headers so I can compare.

Can someone please confirm if I have found the correct header for my desired application?

THis is the streetable header/collector for the 84-85 Automatic Trans. Will this bolt up to my stock exhaust with the cat. or am I going to have to get more than just this header? I've tried to sort this all out myself but with so much talk of presilencers and street headers and race headers with and without collectors and cat replacement pipes and who knows what else, I am utterly confused!

Will this work for me?? Someone please help me cut to the chase! It would be much appreciated! I'll worry about the mindtrain options when I hear back from kickyride.com

Call Mindtrain Directly, why deal with a middle man and pay a little more?. They will sell you exactly what you need.

yes you want the streetable header, you can use a pre-silencer to eliminate the cat.

make sure you get the full size pre-silencer and not the mini

theres no point in the header if your gonna keep the cat IMO

Ok so with Racing Beat I want: Streeet Header, and regular presilencer If Im going to do away with the cat.

As for mindtrain, I've heard their header bolts up to the cat, what if I want to remove the cat? Do the offer any type of cat replacement system comparable to racing beat's? Also, anyone know what a rough estimate price is for a mindtrain header? Thanks again guys!

If you run a big cat with the honeycomb matrix, back-pressure increase is negligible and you won't be contributing to American children's health problems now and in the future. Especially important if you EVER plan on having any kids of your own. Show some responsibility and keep the cat functional, the freakin' rotary is one dirty bird when it comes to pollutants...

BTW, make sure you check out the Bönez cat.

Bonez--- never heard of 'em, but those are the best prices I've seen for aftermarket cats and muffler (even after considering the hit us Canadians take on the currency exchange) that will handle the rotary's exhaust.
The question is, can anybody on here verify their durability first-hand? We don't have emissions testing here in Alberta yet, but it's probably a matter of when rather than if.
Even with the cat, some places (California for example) won't pass your car unless ALL components are present, including the two pre-cats. Has anybody ever tried slicing the stock pre-cats in two length-wise and then welding them (complete with flanges onto the aft portion of the header) to give the appearance of compliance? This would in no way restrict the flow through the header if done right.
Just wondering.
