Cool what i'd REALLY like to see from mazda

i see the new rx8, yeah it's ok, looks like a great engine and plenty of function... but what i really want is a new version rx7 more like the 1st gen. think about it. the miata is a great little performer, small and nimble, then imagine something similar with a RENESIS in it, pop a hatchback on it and there ya go! a 2200 lb car with 250 NA hp, and KEEP IT INEXPENSIVE! miata's are cheap, and they already have the RENESIS in production.... ah well, daydreaming at work. mmmm .... compact car price, supercar performance....

Sounds like a good idea too me, but in reality, how cheap are we talking?

A new miata now can cost damn near 25k (dad bought one last week) Now, throw in the renesis rather than the 1.8, and that will add a fair chunk of $$... And then we're pushing the 30k for the RX8. What did the 1st gens cost new, and how would that compare to todays cars? (sorry I'm young, I was 5 when my car was built)

Sure would be a cool idea though.. A 250HP na rotary, with the miatas midget throw 6speed shifter. Make on the same platform as the miata, with a glass hatch and a nice big sunroof that slides back like the 3rd gens...

Anyone any good w/ photoshop?

I've already been entertaining sick thoughts about a 13B-REW transplant into my 1st gen, so why not a Renesis? I'll just wave my magic wand and it'll bolt itself right in...

Actually, the renesis should cost much less to manufacture than the current 1.8 I4 in the Miata.

I'd personaly wouldnt mind a rotary powered Miata with roof to be the next RX-7. Matter of fact, why not just put rotaries in Miatas too.

Sounds good to put a rotary in a Miata, but make the thing bigger. I fit comfortably in my first gen, but not in a Miata (6'4").

Build a new REPU! That's what Mazda should do. Then maybe their lacluster B sries sales would finaly take off. Oh yeah, fix the interior to make it look more rotary-ish (big full tach, like what the best of the rotary cars had). Oh yeah, 4WD option!

i remeber seeing that gsl's were around 12k and gsl-se were 16k or more depending on dealer markup. thats pretty crazy to think my car cost 12k new
