What HP at dyno are you turbo guys getting?

Interested in numbers here, dyno stats only please, I am considering turbo but not sure whether to go 12a with a turbo kit or 13BT, torque and HP specs if possible.

The 12A is a better platform to get torque and horsepower out of. The motor is stronger and less complicated. Horsepower is only good ro maintaining the speed that the torque get's you to. If you focus more on torque than horspower, you'll have a car that will take everyone by suprise

They only people you will suprise are rotary guys by saying you have a12a turbo. Most pople don't know the difference between a 12A, 13B, or 20B. Like you the 13B is in no way more complicated than a 12A. It's only 10mm wider... And a 13B would make more tq and have a higher hp potential than a 12A. Robert got 720 hp out of a 12a, and that's the highest anyone has heard of. Where as I've seen 1000 hp 13B's.

I've heard of 1000 hp 12A's. The 12A reacts much greater to any type of modification than the others. From my experiece, the 12A has just been a better platform to build upon than a 13B. But to each his own. Plus, in my opinion too many people swap to a 13B and just over look the 12A when in fact, built right, a 12A can pack as potent, if not more of a punch than a 13B

I agree, it is stupid to argue which motor made more horsepower. I seriously doubt he is looking to get 720 horsepower out of his motor, much less 1000. On top of that not one of you actually gave him HP numbers from your cars. I am not trying to be a dick but he asked for HP numbers and torque numbers only.

I've seen many hp numbers, and generally a 13B makes more power and torque than a 12A. It makes sense though. The bigger engine makes more power, thats just the way things are. Other factors do come into play here, but generally, a 13B is more potent than a 12A. Why do you think mazda phased out the 12A anyway?

Your post came just in time. This is proof that the 12A makes less torque than a 13B with nearly equal power. Directfreak's 13B made nearly 500hp and 430 ft lb or torque on 1 pass with C-16 and 20 psi boost. Thats a huge difference in torque for the same power output.

I agree with the 12A
and the 13B both

its what your talented with.

at the race track here they all have the same engine. a 350 in their car, but it has to do with what they put in it.

dirt car.

if they dont know how to tune a car. they cant run crap , and they get lapped twice. and its the same motor.

just my 2 cents.

id go witht the 12A if you like the carb or the 13B if you are talented with computer

The thing is, opinion doesn't count for jack. I'd like to hear a technical and/or fact based argument on why the 12A is stronger, less complicated and more power productive than a 13B.

As for the torque vs hp thing, torque by itself is useless. But when it's looked at in relation to the rpm it's produced at it gives us a meaningful figure. ie. horespower.

Alright here's my setup. I've got 2 beaners walking the mouse wheels, one jesus powered overhead, a river of styx brand fuel system, and I think the numbers speak for themselves.

I top out at 200miles per awesome at 9000rpm

good response.

I was one who wanted to Turbo a 12A.

I dont believe in the Nikki carb set up.
I dont believe in the stock FC TII turbo's

I finally woke up and said **** it.

Plans are J spec 13bt,,street port,Pinned,Microtech LT8X,PT61....
Ill leave it at that..

DirectFreak,
Tampa is not to far from Miami

But these days, the kids want to slap on a turbo on anything, the cool factor still wont make you win.

I guess it depends where you are from,Theres to much competition here to run a backyard bullshit 12A turbo set up here in FL
