What the hell is this?

OK, i have an oil leak onto my exhaust manifold, and i think its this little piece on the front of my block, with 2 lines coming down from the carb, and some kind of linkage connected to the throttle. I think it has something to do with the oil injection system. BUt anyways, the stupid little stock spring-type hose clamp is loose(which is spraying oil onto my exhaust manifold- which equals bad), so im gonna repair it, but i was just curios as to what that little piece did. Thanks.

That is your Oil Metering Pump. It seems like a common problem as I had the same problem at one time too. Just connect it so it doesnt leak anymore and it'll be fine

if you replace the gasket, make sure you get all of the old gasket off. if you don't it will be a bad thing! easy spot to leak. the spring thing is a small hose clamp. they like to stretch and then the omp lines leak

My lines were gone when I got my 85 GSL. DOH! Made some that lasted about a week before they started leaking. Got some from an 83 and put them on. Cleaned up my engine at the car wash and it was fine for a day or so... NOW I get smoke from the side of engine with exhaust on it, and oil all over front lower corner of the engine. However, this is much less of an issue with the right tubes than with the ones I made from rubber vacuum lines... Sounds like OMP tubes are leaking a little?
