what does this joy stick thing do?

ive been searching and searching and i have no idea, on my 85 gsl se right behind my window switches theres a little black joy stick, it wasnt pluged in when i got it so i plugged it in, it uses 2 conections, one black circle connector and one white circle conector. i plugged it all up and nothing, so please, please tell me what it does and how to make it work. thanks -Justin.

it controls the radio fade. front/back/left/right

ahh, i just found it, its the audio controls. i have a blaupunkt casset deck in my car, it was there when i bought it, i havent been able to afford a new one yet but im getting new a new head unit, wires and speakers on wed. the fifth, (my birthday!) so can i use this? not use this? is there something cooler i can make it do? if it will never work again its comming out and that spot is becoming the base for my ipod dock. thanks for the quick replys guys

no you cant use it with an aftermarket head unit. but if you wanna go with factory you ll be able to use it. when you go after market on these cars you have to run new wires for the speakers bc the factory unit is setup all wacky like.

im afraid the joystick only connects to your stock clarion unit. it also splits into 2 amps iirc. i have a s2 w/ premium sound system so it might be a little different. the joystick does not work since you do not have your stock stereo when you hooked it up or you might have a bad fuse for your radio harness. i think they joystick balancer is the coolest thing ever. 80's style 360 degree surround sound!!

hmm, thanks for the replys. well tomarrow im blowing the dust off the dremel and making a dock for an ipod mini, thats going to be a great place for it too.

any other ideas on what to do with it?

so while im doing the center consol of my car any one know where to purchase a 3 gauge/hea unit holder? i realy realy want one.
