What do you guy's think of my gsl-se cold air intake

Racing beat street port exhaust on the way, intercooler piping laying around and a thought equals this. My CAI even though everyone says don't bother I bothered.

Found A old k&n in the garage and some left over intercooler piping then went to town. I took the old hose going to the maf apart also taking out the ring. Now I have the the flex tube (which helps) goto a 3" IC pipe onto the maf. From there the maf adapter to the other half of the original hose (which gave me the hump to go over the coolant tank) to another piece of IC pipe that connects to the air filter.
Luckily I did not have to relocate anything.

I know water will be a problem but she's only gonna see nice days here in sunny California. I am also running a hose from near the air filter to the air intake sensor on the egi and clean the hell out of that rubber..

Looks good. One thing to watch is the MAF needs to be fixed from vibration and level. Other than that, that's one of the best SE CAIs I've seen.

I have yet to start the car, still waiting on parts and of course the exhaust. The flex in the upper hose will help me to get it level. Also gonna try and make a mount to calm down vibration.

Thanks guys and I should have more pics up soon and hopefully some good butt dyno numbers. And for anyone wanting to try this its easy as pie, no cutting don't even have to take off the WP hose.

That is a nice setup. Where did you get your clamps from? They look wide and strong?

That is a very well done CAI.

What was the total cost of the parts?

Cost me nothing had the parts laying around, but new could be $50-200 depending on the quality of the parts.

I used t-bolt clamps that you can get off ebay.

Water will be a little problem for you, really. Looking into the same type of setup that you and a lot of others have done, I asked the tech at my local rotary shop in regards about that. Because of that position, it should not give you any problems.

Plus, I had almost the same exact thing on my mini-truck but that setup was a direct force air intake. I drove that truck through the most inclement weather and heavy downpours and never once experienced any problems with my motor. You can't get anymore direct that with a custom made scoop and tubing leading from under the bumper all the way into the intake. Engine always ran like a champ, that setup will do you just fine with no complications.

What took ya so long.
I need to update that picture. It does not show the 4 nut plates and the rubber strip on top. They are a nice clean, bolt on piece.

To keep this thread on target, I really think this is an excellent DIY mod that most anybody can do for not much money and RickRx's setup looks great.

In case anyone was wondering a 3" Silicone connector will squeeze down and fit the oval shape of the stock blue air cleaner assembly pretty well. If you remove the stock plastic snout from it.

To make the CAI is easy but I know some people dont have the tools. Ounce I get the car running and see how much of a difference the peformance is I might start making them, that is unless someone steals my idea for profit. Anyone should be able to make this with just a sawsall and a vise, I would not feel right selling something you can make yourself..

If anyone wants to make this I will add some pics and more detailed steps.

why bother, the SE already has a factory cold air intake, just put a K&N filter in.
