what to do with my project car?
some of you may have caught some of my threads with my rx7 with the ford 2.3t. i have been working on this car for the good part of a year. i have put AAALOT of time/money/effort into building up this car. but i dont know if i want to mess with it anymore. i want a reliable daily driver, and i sure dont have room for 3 cars, and i dont want to sell my current rx7 that i drive everyday. the car has alot of potential, and is very quick. is has a few problems, which makes me want to not mess with it, but they arent a very big deal.
-i need to upgrade the cooling system. im sure all i need to do is relocate the radiator, and move the electric fan to the other side and it should be good.
-theres a no hot start problem, that has been nailing me. you can get it to start, but its hard. im told its part of the tfi in the dizzy.
-with the boost controller set to 13 psi, it has a studder under boost in 1st and 2nd gear, but on stock boost its fine. im guessing thats another issue with the dizzy/tfi
i have put ALOT of time into this car. i hate to even THINK of selling it, but im in a situation where i need money. the only thing is, i dont know if i should part it out over selling it, or just let it sit till i can mess with it more. i would hate to see someone else rolling around in a car i built, but i dont know if i want to go through the trouble to part her out.
anyone have any input on what i should do? also, how much do you think i could get for her if i sold her?
hers a mod list, along with some pictures..
-122k on the chassis
-1986 merkur 2.3t engine
-manual boost controller
-rotated upper intake
-knife edged and ported lower intake
-front mount intercooler
-14" electric fan
-big VAM from turbocoupe
-t3 turbo
-new plugs,wires, cap, and rotor
-t5 tranny from a turbocoupe
-willwood mastercylinder for clutch master cylinder (so i could use a hydro clutch instead of converting to cable)
suspension
-1985 gslse suspension (front and rear)
misc.
-the motor and tranny are on solid motor mounts
-battery located in the back
-no interior behind the seats
-boost/a/f gauges
-walbro 255 fuel pump
-sound deading material is GONE from the seats back.
its actually not that bad of a ride on solid motor mounts, i was definately surprised.
theres is no exhaust system on it. however the downpipe goes all the way to the cat (which is still there) and ends afterwards. it runs straight back, but i was thinking about making a temp side exit.
i think this car has alot of potential, i just dont have the time to mess with it. randy on this forum is running 12.44 on street tires with a similar setup. i hate to see it go, but if the price is right, i guess ill have to.
angelfire is being a pos, heres the website from the buildup at
www.angelfire.com/va3/rx23, the most recent pictures are at http://www.angelfire.com/va3/rx23/31204.html
there are more recent ones. i changed one or two things in the engine bay, nothing noticable, just ran a line for the breather on the valve cover, and the battery box has a lid, and is sealed/vented to the outside.
