Help I still don't know what I got here. My title says 83' door tag says manufactured 10/82 which is consitant but the VIN codes otu as a 84'. I also have a top mount oil cooler which I thought I read came out on the 84. And how do I find the model ie.. s,se,ect..

 

mine said GSL on the back...check your rear differential, does it say limited slip oil only? and do you have rear disk brakes..or drums.

 

Actually I believe the beehive cooler came out on the '83 also. Usually if you have rear discs you have either the GSL or the GSL-SE. The GSL-SE wasn't made until '84 and included the 13b for the engine instead of the 12a in the other models. That's weird the VIN doesn't match up. Is that the VIN from the body or the title? Are they both the same. Have you checked the window vin location against the firewall vin location to make sure they match?

 

Checked the door and firewall,same as title. I figured the window being the easiest to change was kinda useless. Ihave rear drums have to look at differential tomorrow.

 

Do you have 1 windshield sprayer nozzle or 2?

 

I have one sprayer.

 

the beehive was on 83-85 12a's
im pretty sure yours is an 83 model beause it was manufatcured in 10/82 and u said it has a beehive and a single sprayer, only s3 cars (84-85) had 2 sprayers on the wiper cowl) or you could just tell by the dashboard and the airdam

Sounds right. I have factory A/C if that means anything.What does s3 mean I'm seeing alot of those codes but don't know what they mean yet.Bas emodel, does that make it a s?

 

S3 means series 3. If yours is a '83 it is a S2.

 

S1= 79/80
S2= 81-83
S3= 84/85

Sounds like you've got either a S or GS, does it have a sunroof? A/C doesn't mean anything cause 99.9% of them had it. The beehive was used from 83-85 12a's as previously said. Sounds like you have a 83, if you can get a picture of the interior we'll be able to say right away.

 

No I don't have a sunroof and I'm glad. Does that make it a s. I have the old dash with the tach in the center.I don't have a digitial camera so tell me what you need to know about the interior.

 

FWIW, I have an '83 manufactured in late 82. GSL plate on the pillar behind the doors. Beehive cooler. Sunroof. Rear disks. Haven't checked the diff for any markings about LSD. Brian - I'm guessing you have an S or GS.

BTW - did you get the oil cooler fixed?
