What is the best setup for drag racing ?
normally aspirated or turbo ?
if normally aspirated then
1) street port, bridge port or p-port ?
2) IDA or throttle bodies ?
either way
1) which diff ?
2) ideal tyre size...13", 14", 15" ?
my target is a run less than 13s...so somewhere in the 12's
thanks guys.

Do you want to be able to drive it daily, or trailer it?
How much do you want to spend?
Based on what I have seen and know from non 7's:
1) Shorten a Ford 9" for the diff.
2) 15's offer the largest selection of drag tires...but the 7's dont have tons of room for big meats w/o modifications
As far as the ports, the bigger the more power they are going to make, so I would say bridgeport if you aren't going to daily drive it.
I personally would turbo it(coming from the Turbo Buick world and having a love of turbos). Seems to me that there is enough experience on the boards to make a good reliable turbo set up, or jsut swap in a TII engine and that ought to get you pretty close to your goal....once again - I haven't ever owned a running Rx-7(should soon though!), but I do know about dragging.
Members with experience in rotary drag racing please chime in, but this atleast can get you thinking.

P-Port. Bridgeports are more for road/circuit racing and drag racing. P-port is a type of all out drag race setup. Of course they have used P-ports in drag racing, and its also true that bridgeports are good for drag racing. For the most amount of power as possible, do a P-Port.
Honestly, you want a fast *** FB? Turbo the car. There isn't any real guarantee that you'll hit 12's without one.

9" ford isn't the best choice for the sa/fb, stick with the stock diff, ensure it's in good shape, and run it until it blows, you'll be surprised how long it will last. One of the faster guys on tc was running stock diff into the 10's.
If you make enough torque to break the stock diff then I would recommend a 8.8 with 9" housing ends, keep the 4link, and go with a panhard but reinforce all the link points on the chassis
15x26x8.5 slicks fits well on a 15x7 40mm offset, I rolled the fender lips and i'm going to run a 9" for my next set this season

I agree with the Jesus Padilla thing though. Since when was he only running 10's, though? Did they make him add a bunch of weight to his car or something to slow him down?

ok guys, what i'm reading from this is go either
1) s5 turbo....i assume stock ?
2) 13b p-port
guys...not going for 10's....just 12-13s....i'll be more than happy.
I know that after that point the $$$$ spend goes up exponentially
at this point i'm leaning towards 13b p-port
now 51IDA or throttle bodies ?? and what size injectors ?
thanks guys
