Thats the condenser for your oil pressure sensor, it its supposed to be attached with the slave cylinder bolts.

Yes - It helps surpress noise within the electricasl system and give better sound quality with the radio. You may never know if it was missing. Doesn't do anything with perfromance.

Thanks! I knew I could depend on you guys. I looked through the shop manual but, as many of you well know, it's hard to find something in there when you do not know what you are looking for.

BTW, are these still available and are they really necessary?

Thanks. I thought it might have something to do with why my sender and gauge both failed. Previous owners did a lot of rigging to the stock harness and that piece seems to be missing. Good to know I don't need it.

I'm not sure if it is at all necessary, as already stated. But I'm leaving mine on until it breaks just in case - and now I know what it's for!

There are two on the motor of an FB, one on the rear iron that dampens the pulses from the oil pressure regulator (for smoother gauge movement). I always remove these because i dont like how slow they make the gauge react. The second one is on the front iron/housing or on the dizzy and reduces EMI.

I guess someone already took the liberty of removing both on my '85. That's alright, I took the liberty of removing everything else. Thanks for the info.
