Question Wet!?

Just wondering how does water get into my recently acquired 7... Under the carpet of the passenger side (where you put feet) resides a little bit of water (not under the seat). Also the storage bin behind the passenger side has a few drops of water (I'm guessing the water is coming from the vents on the side of the car). No major signs of rust in the bin or under the carpet (luckily). Where does this water come from and how can i stop it from entering?!

Tried searching but didnt' get that much extra info besides what i already know...

My first guess for wet passenger feet is usually the heater core leaking, dunno about that on the 7's though. My next guess wich i pray for you is nto correct would be rusting from underneath. Take a peek under the car with a flashlight in the areas you notice water coming through.

I'm sure no rust under the passenger area because the car has been parked for over a week now--no movement whatsoever (it was waiting to be worked on). The water had to have come from the TOP...

for wet passenger feet check if there is a drain in the bottom of the A/C condensor that is disconnected. My FD had wet passenger floor and it turned out to be this.

It could be a bad door or window seal.

Water driven by wind can get into the strangest places.

As far as wet feet are concerned water will flow to the lowest point...

Good luck

I had the same problem. I did two things: made sure the sunroof's drains were clear and replaced the door seals. One or both of those things worked, as the problem went away...

Get the hose out and soak the roof. If the headliner gets wet then check the 4 screws with the rubber washers that hold the wind deflector.

If it's the heater core leaking then it will smell like cat pee.

doesn't the sunroof drain go down through the A Pillar on each side? Is it possible his pulled loose and is dripping down from inside the frame?

I had the same problem on both driver and passenger sides. Both sides were as a result of holes in the firewall/sidewall seam, up behind the pedals and the heater unit respectively. Welding required as daylight was visible when the wheel arch plastic splashguards were pulled off! Now that’s done and the carpet is still out, I can see a dribble of water coming in from underneath the passenger door seal, and also water dripping in from the apeture in front of the door where the front speaker usually sits – I reckon this is dropping directly down from the corner of the windshield above(probably rust again…)
The joys of a 20-ish year old car…

Good luck
