Well Im now in the LSD club :)

Well me and Randy swapped the rear in the car today, went pretty smooth, around 2 hours... I did a lot of dicking off LOL But anyways, it leaves both tires and for $85 complete thats not bad...

Here's a new treadmark picture, it has ZERO problems spinning them

Anyone need this?

And theres NO WAY IN HELL, I could have done this today without Randy, man I owe you big time anything you need just let me know...

But heres what we did to the poor black GSL at the junkyard. We took tin snips and cut the bumper cover off, took an A frame hoist and chained the bumper and lifted the whole car off the ground, and then when we were done forgot we left the driveshaft under the car, we dropped the car on top of it. So if you see a driveshaft by a black GSL its probally bad LOL

Welcome Mike. I been LSD'd for sometime. (NOT THE drug!!) Only problem is the looseness. It clunks and obviously needs a rebuild, but am hoping to find a cheap Rex to replace the hail, deer, and rusted Reck mine is, even though it looks good from 60yards, . Anyway, preferably a GSL so I got a LSD and hopefully not loose.(0-500bucks for the whole car is my range in MN area).

Heh, that's ironic... I got my pair of rexes off of ebay from Alexandria MN. The GSL's rusty though... but I don't want a lot of that fancy crap anyway.

Too bad its rusty though. I am not taking a cancer patient, trying to get out of that so I can put my bridgeport into something that is worth it.
Mine GSL was rust/cancer free for 2years untill i used it for a winter in college...BIG mistake, now I don't care about it, since it has hail/deer damage also, too much money to get it were I want it.

But anyone with a relatively RUST FREE GSL or other '81-85 preferably with LSD so I don't have to hunt, I wouldn't be able to live with a one-wheeler, and with a bad engine or some other reason to bring the price down, give me a ring!!

Lets see these tires are 1) hard compound and 2) dry rotted to hell and back from sitting in the garage while this swap has taken place. But were it really looked good was when my friend with the LS1 TA was here and the look in his eye when I launched that FU&KER like I did in the driveway LOL

ahahaha, thats a good one!! I'm down here in Lakeville and I've also been looking for that perfect rust free FB since oct of 2000. I even went to a little town at the south west corner of MN to look at one that was "rust free" I guess if you cut the rust out and replace it with bondo thats rust free in that guys mind. The closest I got to rust free was my 83 that I have now but I still had to do some rust repair (storage bins). Someday I will find that RUST FREE FB in MN I know there is one somewhere!

Where are you at in MN anyways?

I got my "rust free" GSL body from a fellow who brought it up from what we Michiganders consider the deep south - Ohio. The rear wheel wells are mint but I found that the floorboards must've gotten a lot of spilled coffee over the years - and then someone pulled up the carpet and put bondo on the rust. Then they rebuilt the sunroof mounting points with more bondo. And the hatch channel water drains must've plugged so that lip is holey.
But you know what? It's got LSD and rear disc brakes!

LIS, I got my pair of FBs from a guy in Minnesota, over ebay. The GSL was pretty far along what one would call a rustbucket; bubbles all over, rear passenger-side corner rusted all the way through, missing the header panel thing... but it ran. The GS was a new mexico car, as stereotypicially as you can put it. No rust at all, but it's sandblasted. Not running either, which isn't surprising given the fact that there's something like 240k on the odometer. But man... it's so weird to pop a hood and see, like, *NOTHING* with corrosion.

GSL rear and motor are going in the GS... I don't want a sunroof anyway. I'm too damn tall; on the drive home, I had to keep the sunroof on the GSL open so that I wouldn't compress my spine.

[edit] Header panel missing, not valence piece.
