Well.... I wrecked my car.....

yeah about 2 hours ago I finished tearing out my rats nest on my 84 GS and took it on a test drive and everything was going well and it was running great until I hit the power pole, then the telephone box, then some guys fence.... it was great, at least I missed the BMW.... Anyways, My question is, will the flip up headlights, hood, fenders, and front end sheet metal from my 81 parts car fit on my 84? I am not extremely concerned about cosmetics, I can already see the difference in the hood, but are all the dimensions the same? It would save me alot of F*cking around pretending to be an auto body guy if I could just unbolt and rebolt.... I am hoping that it all fits, assuming that I can straighten the F'ed up frame peices on the passenger side headlight area....
Oh yeah I also would like to know about the front end suspension swappability (is that a word?) A-Arms, shocks, sway bars, tie rod ends, basically I am hoping that I can swap EVERYTHING on the front half of the car, besides the motor....
Thanks.

I hate it when fences jump out in the middle of the road with their telephone pole friends.

yup the only difference between 81-85 is interior design...as well as stock LSD option with the gls-se and 4 wheel disc as well...I have an 81 and I have taken front fenders, passengers rear quarter, and actually some interior pieces which were the same...all taken from an 85 gs

You can swap all the front end parts, You could even use 79 - 80 parts if you keep the bumper and fenders as a pair.

As long as you haven't bent any subframe parts, you should be good. Post pics of the damage and then again when you have the body parts off. The second set will show if you have any issues to deal with.

Slow down next time.

Not so much slow down as look beyond 20 yards when driving fast. Scan, don't stare. Note 'billboards' and side streets. When coming up to someone stopped on a side road, assume they will pull out...watch the front wheels of that car...you seem them creep and it means the person is thinking about it...their foot on the brake is a better indicator of their thoughts than even making direct eye contact as you come up to them.

Sorry to hear about the accident...is there going to be an insurance battle over this?

Awsome, I am glad that everything is reverse-compatible... I am back to paying $15 a day in gas driving my 65 Impala (no joke) for the time being... but Ill have my noisy little toy back on the road soon I hope (within a month-ish), upon further examination I noticed that I bashed my exhaust that I spent 2 days stripping down, painting, measuring and fabricating mounts so I could hang it myself... So now I get to try my hand at fabricating a new muffler I guess, or I will revert back to straight pipe... =)

All the condolences are much appriciated, Im glad Im among those that can feel my pain because everyone I know says "oh its just a car insurance will take care of it" I say SCREW that, my cars and my women are a tossup for the #1 spot, thats how important they are to me. There will be no insurance battle over this I hope, I have already contacted the phone company and told them I demolished the phone box and all they said was "oh, we will send someone out" and that was it.......

Also, I know I can't say I was really obaying the posted speed limit, but several days ago I made that same wide corner going almost 110mph..... I ate sh*t going about 50 on a test drive, I never push it after I just did work to my car, I noticed that my car had a flat tire when I came to a stop and Im starting to think thats what caused the whole thing... I was driving along, listening to my motor and clunking tranny, thinking to myself "hey thats a shiny BMW up there" then I was spinning around hitting crap hoping to god the damage wasn't too bad.... Oh well, If I decide to buy a digital camera sometime soon Ill post up some pics, but ive already removed the damaged body peices and I just gotta start the surgery process all over again..........

A low or flat tire will definitely induce "snap oversteer". Don't ask how I know..

This is why some write ups should be password protected, requiring a 1000 word essay before you're considered.

j/k.....I think. Good luck with it.

There is more to this story. I feel bad you where in an accident, but the more you talked about it the less I feel for you. 110mph around a corner? Be glade you alive to even talk or walk. People that do this to their cars should not have them as your a danger to our society.

There are always stipulations to consider before you start opening your large mouth mister, you might just fall off your high horse if you arent careful. Notice that I said "Wide corner" It is a very wide and elongated stretch of road, with the bushes cut low and nothing around the guys fence was a farmers cowfield that he put up cyclone fencing around, the telephone box was at the beginning of a very long driveway meaning the house was nowhere near the road, and as for the telephone pole, well, Im pretty sure you can figure out the placement of telephone poles in relation to where a road would be., what do you want? a damn picture? I could photoshop up a grid for you or try to make a 3d model of some sorts....
Im young and can already acknowledge that I am lucky to be alive after alot of the immensely stupid situations I have put myself in, I dont need some guy online trying to tell me my business.

And as for where I live in oregon, its a small town called Scappoose about 30 minutes west of portland.

So, you still think its smart to drive your car 110mph on any corner? Just try and justify it? You realy can't, can you?

if you read correctly, he says he lost it at 50 not 110. everyone has pushed it to the limits at least once, and if you havent, you should. granted, better safe than sorry.

Well, I can tell you that front end piece is a pain. I bought my GSL wrecked in the front end. Luckily I had a parts car. You can try to drill out every spot weld and remove the front structure or if your two side structure is too messed up like mine were then you can cut at the side structures off another car and weld it on.

How bad is the front end ? You ran straight into a pole?
