Well the 7's finished before its time this winter...

Well it happened, on the way home from my buddies shop last night after we finished the engine swap on his 300z my car started to over heat quickly. I shut it off before it got to the first hot mark and pulled over, pulled off the radiator cap and its bone dry... filled it up and went to the gas station, was pumping gas and noticed a big pool of antifreeze runnin all over the ground, look at the bottom of the car and its running off my air damn in an almost 1/4" wide stream... looked in the engine bay and cant see a leak but I think its commin from the bottom front of the radiator, must be cracked... OH also day before yesterday I started gettin this horrible *** vibration about 55 mph, put it ona lift yesterday and the drive shaft is bent like a mother f... right at the back of the shaft near where it attatches to the diff it has like almost a 1/4" of wobble in it when its spinning.... the only thing I can think of or remember when it started was when I dumped it to race a guy... how can a car with 150ftlbs of torque bend the driveshaft like that?, anyone know where to get a driveshaft?

Sorry to hear that. But at least you shut it off, hopefully before there was permanent engine damage. Find a used driveshaft. Junkyard, for sale section, thepartstrader, ebay. UNless you wanna spend $$$$$$ on a new one from mazdatrix. Maybe a good shop could straighten it as an option?

The drive shaft is a weak point but most people only have trouble once they add some HP. I bet the Radiator has a hole rusted through it.

I have a 81-82 driveshaft for sale also.

its in good shape, took it off, as I am getting a custom alluminum one made for my TII swap.

It is packed and ready to go, as a previous deal for it dropped.

$65 shipped (shipping on the previous deal was $45, because of size and weight) just asking $20 for the shaft itself.

I don't know how you bent the driveshaft, but I doubt it was from a hard launch.

The output shaft on my tranny was the weak link in the drivetrain for hard launches. I did no damage to the driveshaft at all. Unless the driveshaft had existing damage in that spot, I would imagine the yoke or pinion flange would give before the shaft would bend.

Who knows. Good luck in getting her lined back out.

At the local 1/8th miler, I was dumping the clutch at 4500 rpm through 225/50/15 Dunlop 9000s after a stiff burnout....nothing broke anywhere...you prolly ran over something (or the previous owner..) that started the bump that made that a weak point in the driveshaft...

And this kind of sad story was what I was expecting the last time I opened a thread titled almost the same..
