Angry weirdness when cold....

Hi everybody!

Anyone recognise this:
When cold, the buzzer goes off with a long
steady beep. And the oilpressure-gauge and
the watertemp-gauge are not responding.
This all stops when the engine is warming up,
and everything goes back to normal.
As it all began at the same time it would be
freakish if both sensors gave up at the same time...
According to the wiring diagram they don't even
use the same connector to the instrument panel,
so I assume the problem lies elsewhere.
(1st gen 12A -85)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hmm, a buzzer problem? Yes, I'm not the only one!!
Anyway, it sounds like there is an area in the car of increased resistance when it is cold. That could account for the oil and water guages to not function properly.

I get that too

I run an 85 GSLSE. The other day my coolent light lit up on the dash and an annoying, sustained buzzing noise came from out of nowhere...scared the hell out of me at first. Check your coolent levels. Once I filled the coolent res to the right of the radiator all returned to normal. It could very well be that this has nothing to do with your guys's 7 issues, but what the heck, I need to contribute sometime.

There should be a resivour that the engine uses during below zero weather conditions. I'm at work, cannot find the documentation at the moment, etc. etc.

Hope that helps.

Peace.

M.

Wow, and I thought I was the only one. I drives me nuts!

I get this near constant beep and occasionally the oil pressure gauge is "not working". Then it will just as suddenly, stop beeping. (Usually hitting the right pothole does the trick.)

However, it seems in my case that it happens when there is moisture. Tempature doesn't seem to be a factor.

Any ideas to fix this would be great. I will then be able to spend more of my sanitity on other things.
