CA Weird Turn Signal Issue - 1st gen 1979 RX7

1979 RX-7 here. Running well but....

it rained last night. Was heading to work and noticed when signaling for a left turn, the turn signal lights do go on, but the lights themselves do not flash on-and-off.

Also, there is no usual "click, click, click, click-sound" inside the car that indicates that the turn signal has been activated.

I've checked the fuses. Look OK.

I've heard Trochoid mention "multi-switch" and "flasher unit" earlier, that they may need to be cleaned or replaced. But I don't know where or what these parts are.

Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Check each of the bulbs for the left side; a failed bulb can prevent the flasher circuit from flashing.

The multi-switch is the switch in the steering column that your turn signal control is part of.

The flasher unit is up under the dash left side, one of several similar-looking parts; it's the gizmo that is specifically in charge of turning electricity on and off to make the bulbs flash. You'll need a photo, or the wiring diagram, to locate it.

Thanks very much. I'll check the bulbs on the left side tonight when I get home.
Hope the cops don't get me before then!

The flasher is up under the dash towards the left side. If you turn it on and listen for it you can hear it clicking. If all the bulbs check out. you might want to take it out, take it apart and see if all the solder joints are good. I had to do that with mine.

OK guys. Weirdest thing happened. Drove home. Never checked the bulbs. When signaling for a turn I manually moved the indicator bar back and forth (to simulate flashing). All of the sudden, starts working perfectly again.
I'll check the flasher unit soon. Thanks again.

Loose connection or dirty switch contacts just became the front runners.
