When I'm driving at very low speeds or when I take a very slow corner I sometimes hear a squealing coming from the rear end of my GSL. I'm thinking it is either the wheel bearings or maybe an LSD issue. Am I right or is it something else?

 

i would first pull the rear wheels and inspect the brakes for any rubbing or loose rust debris.

yeah, but I didn't have time to **** with it today. I'm pretty sure it was brake dust, but I'm going to run it after I clean the rotors and such tomorrow.

okay, so I cleaned the brakes and such, but the squealing continues. Might it be the U joints?

 

im having the same problem, i think its prolly the ujoints. i have had time to check tho

 

U joints not present in the rear of any first gen.
Squealing might be:
LOUD noise = LSD
Scouring(sp) noise = rear wheel bearing, which are very under-engineered on our cars
Squarking(sp) noise = bushings or shocks

WOW. Saying it was the U joints made me sound like a noob. haha. okay, cool. I thought it might be the wheel bearings. I'll replace them and get back on it. Thanks.

 

First gens do have "U joints" (Universal joints) on each end of the drive shaft.

What they don't have, is "CV joints" (Constant-Velocity joints) on the wheel half-shafts.
