Weird problem, help please :)

well ive been working on my sisters car, guy took off the tank for my dad, took out the screen in the tank because it was all clogged up, they got it back on and everything back together, now when you start it, it feels like its running on 1 rotor and if you leave it running for a few seconds the gas cap shoots off like a rocket, did they put a line on backwards?? any help is appreciated, its an 85 GSL Carbed

but does it stay running for more than a few seconds? i guess it's worth reversing the lines and trying it, but i don't know for sure ... wish i could be of help!

this may sound absurd at first, but... fuel pump hooked up backwards??

If the gas cap is flying off something is pressurizing the tank

it starts and it will run and drive, but the gas cap will shoot off like a rocket if you leave it on, the tach doesnt register anything and i replaced the coil, maybe an igniter, but one of the lines must be reversed if its pressurizing the tank

Wow, cool mod.

Figure how it works and your got yourself a nice little james bond car.

Guy next to you on the line gives you a dirty look, flip and switch and nail him with your gas cap.

Mine already does the oil slick but I can't seem to turn it off.

khaine_d does the smokescreen. we need to start getting these together.

make sure the pump is pumping the right way and you probably have a dead trailing igniter.
