i have a weird problem with my 82 auto, every time it gets hot the car stalls and when you go to turn the car over to start it back up you hear a sound similar to a air wrench while cranking. i believe the problem could be starter related and is preventing the engine from starting and running. if anyone has expirienced this type of problem please share your input. later

 

Yes, it sounds like the solenoid isn't pulling in all the way to push the ring gear out. I had the same problem.
