OH Weird Exhaust Gases

So, this is my 1st winter owning this car and 1st 12a, so im not sure if this is normal. Info on the car that might matter, its a 12a, header, presilence, cat back.

Okay, now when I start the car from a long sit (ex-over night) I will got start it, when it first starts it has steam. Not smoke. Its isnt thick. It will do this until it is between the first two temp markes then goes away. Now the weather has been getting colder now here in ohio and im not sure if that has anything to do with it. Runs fine, all fluids full when I checked them a week ago, did freash tune up. Coils, plugs, ect. Kind of worried it might be a leaky coolant seal but it dont smoke while its at normal temp. Only smokes if I get on it and its just fuel/oil. Anyone have any advice what I can do to check or am I just going out of my mind being worried over nothing?

perfectly normal. i've lived in northern ohio for as long as i can remember and have been driving rx-7's since i've had a driver's license and see the same thing you are experiencing every winter. even my RX-8 does it when temps are this cold. no big deal.

It's probably vaporization of moisture that condensed inside the exhaust system after shutdown. Been cold and damp there?

If it doesn't smell noticeably of antifreeze, it's probably not coolant - - you have your antifreeze mixed properly, right?

Yeah, the anti freeze is mixed correctly. I did just smell the exhust after working 9 hours on a freash start up, smells of gas and oil so I guess thats good.

Get rid of the GTX. I heard one of it's specs was removed after some testing GM did. Change to another mineral oil (non synth).

Rotaries smell unlike piston engines. They just have a different smell.. bad cats and normal OMP mixing the startup smells funny. Unless it's really smoking after warm up it's nothing unusual for old RX7's.

Source? I've always used Castrol GTX with no complaints.

Try using Mobile. That's what I use and never had a problem with it. You can do an oil change every 5000mi with that oil. It burns good and keeps the engine clean.

Modern synthetics are fine. They're just too expensive for me, and it's not like I'm trying to keep my engine alive for 200,000 miles anyway.

But we're getting off-topic.
