What would be great is to start a open honest trade of jets, tubes and air c. amongst us to find out what works the best for our application instead of spending money on all these parts. Hyper, i have 3 sets of 65 idle jets and would be willing to trade for anything lower than a 145 A/C.....that is a for instance, if we all listed everything we have and everything we need then we could all trade and find out what works best for us. if both trading parties are satisfied then the deal is done.......just a simple thought.

your idle jets are 65f9 though. The IDA uses F10 idle jets. They're the same size jet but the IDA doesn't use a air bleed in the jet.

Sorry I was in Miami! lol
Well i got some more stuff in and did some test drives today. Put in 60 idle jets and it's undriveable. 65's are perfect with 120 idle jet holders. I decided to try out f-3's since they are identical to f-11's except with a smaller middle section to allow the main circut to come on earlier which would eliminate teh lean stumble f-11 owners seem to always complain about.
Put in the f-3's and it's so much better now. No stumble on initial testdrives at all. It went like this all in all.
F-11's too lean in the midrange and caused the main circut to come on too late causing a lean stumble at cruise.
f-16's were the exact same problem, but it was even worse. I went from 205m/165 a/c to 220m and 120 a/c just to get it home, and it was still too lean.
f-7's were great up top but I had to run 205main and 180 a/c to get 13:1 afr's at WOT and it was 10:5 at cruise causeing rich stumble on cruise
f-8's allowed me to run 205 main with 120 a/c and got 12.5:1 afr's at WOT 11.5:1 afr's at cruise with the occaisional rich bog at cruise spiking the wide band at 10:1
f-3's 205 main with 140 a/c gets me 12.5: at cruise and 12.5:1 at WOT no noticeable stumble at cruise anywhere yet.
Current setup is as follows
48IDA
3rd .8mm progression hole added
43mm chokes
65f10 idle
120 idle holder
205 main
140 a/c
f-3 e-tube. Car drives better than it ever has before.

Nice work, thanks a lot for the info. But 12.5 at cruise is still too rich. 13-14 would get better MPG and make the tailpipe smell less.

Yea, but it's been the leanest I've been able to get it without it sputtering and bucking everywhere. I could get it leaner at cruise, but then it's not rich enought at WOT for full power and aggressive timing. Today it was bouncing around 12.8:1- 13.5:1 at 60mph in 5th on the freeway. Lets see how many MPG's on the next tank.

Yep. my 7 is my daily driver. i won't get cought in another car. When ever I drive anything else my car gets jealious and runs like crap afterwords. Or it grenades itself. I figures f-2's or f-3's were going to be the best bet, but i decided to try the f-3 because it's a little bit leaner tube than the f-2. So if it was too lean I could have always bought the f-2. As of now and my driving today I'm pretty I'm sure done messing with e-tubes. This car drives so ******* well now it's sick.

Side note: ignore that hand written chart I posted in the first post as it's clearly wrong.

I never posted results, but I can get 16.8 MPG driving it slow (that means only redlining it twice a day) and I made 190rwhp with this setup. I average about 15.5 MPG. Daily driver sees about 300 miles a week.

48IDA

43mm chokes
65f10 idle
120 idle holder
205 main

Okay, so what about idle jets? Everyone here just says to run F9s in DCOEs. Is this good advice? Des Hammill's book recommends to start leaner (F2, for instance) and work your way richer. It lists F6, F9, F11, F2 in rich-to-lean order as recommendations for performance applications.

According to a weber chart I had somewhere the f9 flute hole is .1mm so running a 60f10 with a 100 jet holder is just like running a 60f9, or a 65f10 w/100jet holder would be just like a 65f9. That chart is the reason I went from the 120 idle jet holder to the 100 jet holder on my IDA and it made a world of difference. When I had a dcoe I ran 60F9 na and went to the bigger 65f9 when I turbo'd it.

p.s. I for the life of me havent found a place with IDA Idle jet holders so I soldered my holes shut and redrilled them at .1mm

In that book when he referrs to start leaner with the F6 then F9.... he is adjusting the richness using the air bleeds as the way to adjust and keeps the fuel hole (what ever you call it) the same. So he recommends getting leaner by using 60F6, 60F9, 60F11, 60F2... Instead of doing 55F9, 60F9, 65F9....

If you're using a weber side draft on a Rotary use either a 55f9, 60f9, 65f9, or a 70f9 . The R&D work has already been done for you by hundreds of people for decades. With the IDA you can use from 55-70f10's depending on port, engine size, compression, and progression holes used. I'd say stay with the 100 idle jet holder on an IDA. It made a huge improvement for me.

Hey Hyper, I ordered these parts for my 48 IDA

Main Jet [200]
Emulsion Tube F11
Air Corrector Jets IDA [150]
Idle Jet 48 IDA [65]

what you think about them to be used in my 12a stockport?

I still need to buy the 300 needle and need to know what chokes I have so I decide if I have to buy another pair or use the one I currently have.

Whats the problem if I use the 200 needle that the carb came with?

I used a 200 needle for the first year without any issues. I don't know why everyone wants to use the f-11's. They are designed to be used with 36mm chokes on dual IDA bug setups... They're just not suited for rotary applications. I mean that's what the ida's comewith from the factory, that doesn't mean it's going to work for us.
you can get cheap e-tubes ($7 each as opposed to $25 each everywhere else) from www.weberpartsdirect.com, but be warned their customer service sucks and the person I delt with had to have a learning disorder and was supposedly balancing the books...

I see, well I have f-9 tubes that came with the carb also. I ordered everything from that website and they shipped my order 30 mins after I placed it.

Hope everything arrives as expected.

What are your thoughts regarding the 200 main and the 150 air jets in a 12a stock port ?

kinda rich for a stock port 12a but it should work. Get a wideband and find out for sure.

Hey hyper, I installed the ida on my stockport 12a and I feel the difference but the tune is not perfect yet, i need your inputs on this on how I can make it to run better.

The car feels great on low end but I notice the power stops before getting to like 7k

So my current setup is:

37 chokes
200 main
150 air
120 air corrector
200 needle
70f10 idle
e-tubes are F11

fuel psi is set to 3psi atm (had to lower it from 3.5 because the engine flooded when I stopped at a light)

I changed the 70F10idle jet to 65 like 1 hr ago and the car cant even hold the idle, it sounds very weird too so I will have to change back to 70 idle so the car can stay ON, what would that be ?

Thanks.

65's might just be too lean for your engine and climate. it falls off because of the 37mm chokes.. When I was running 38mm chokes it was like hitting rev limiter at 7500rpm. you need to go bigger. try 40mm and see how you like it. FYI a stock port 12a isn't going to make much power past 7k

I see, I just found out that the idle jets came lose in there and were not attached to the air corrector, these 65F10 dont attach tight like the 70F10, why would that be ???

So you recommend me to stay with the 70idle jets, get 40mm chokes and forget bout the 65idle jets?

Thanks.
