Weber 45DCOE tidbit

Ok so after ordering some parts to get my 45DCOE conversion rollin, I came across the following webpage:

http://www.racetep.com/webfuelspark.html

I had called these guys a couple of times with some questions, and they seemed to have their **** together and really know the deal with weber carbs.

Anyways, I purchased the carter fuel pump from them with the intention of getting a regulator and gauge but they insisted otherwise.
Just run it deadheaded, no regulator they say.

So, skeptically...before posting it all over here ( I know some of you would have told me without a doubt I need a regulator) I tried it.

Much to my surprise, the car came alive perfectly and ran like a champ.
Little bit of tuning later, I had the car running like it had never run before! with the carter pump deadheaded. Take that!!!!

It doesnt lean out on the top end or act up at all. Works better than I ever imagined.

Soooo... I just thought Id post this up for you guys..hopefully I will save some of your budget projects some money to be spent elsewhere.

Also, lower down on the page there is a great writeup on vacuum advance. Should clear the vac advance to manifold arguments.

Anyways.. enjoy!

Interesting stuff, I have read that site before, but I must have over looked the comment about running no reg. Makes me wonder if I would have had better luck without it on my old setup.

Yah, I was actually quite surprised.

I was expecting the carb to cause major flooding without the reg, and on top of that to also have a hell of a time tuning from what Ive heard around here.

Took me 2 days and a tank of gas to get this thing tuned. Had no hurdles to overcome or anything. What seems to be a good tune came easy as pie....

That site says 4PSI, but others say 6PSI.

Somewhere I came across a spec sheet that said 6PSI, and no less than 4.5PSI at high flow rates.

You may as well contact Rob @ Rotary Shack as when you buy carb from a non-rotary know-how shop, you will spend lots of $$$ on jets etc etc. At least with Rob, he knows what it needs.

And yes Racetep is a local shop in LA who specializes in beamers, datsun and toyota
