weber 12A street port set-up
I've recently purchased a new 48 IDA and I was wondering what fuel pump people would recommend. Also, those who have/ are running this set-up, do you agree with the data that RB offers?:
venturi - 37 mm
fuel jet - 170
air jet - 150
emulsion tube - F11
needle valve - 300
Would you recommend one phenolic spacer?
Would you recommend adding the third progression hole?
I was also thinking of painting the body of the carb. Has anyone else done this?
Oh and one more thing...the flywheel...should I go with a lightened steel, extra light weight steel or aluminum?
The car will primarily be driven on the streets, club cruises and the odd weekend at the track.

lol...I honestly searched the forum for this stuff before and then posted today after not finding anything substantial. On a whim, I decided to search just now and saw that someone had posted for the same info just yesterday.
So it looks like I've got what I need with regards to jets etc...
The questions on the flywheel and paint still are up for grabs though...

I have been using IDAs on my street car and my track car since 1994. The RB recommended venturies and jets will get you running well. Slight jet changes may be needed to fine tune it. Bigger venturies can give more top end power at a loss of low rpm driveability - not recommended for the street.
The carter fuel pump has worked well on my streetport motor with a Weber IDA.
One phenolic spacer is a good idea to keep heat out of the carb and reduce vibration. The limit on spacers is always hood clearance to the air filter with these things!
The third progression hole helped out the transition from idle to main run circuit, it helped reduce the bog a low rpms.
I have not painted a Weber or any other alum part - I usually don't paint aluminum. I like looking at clean, shiny polished aluminum.
A light flywheel really boosted my acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. It will make the idle a little rougher. When you get in 4th and 5th gear where acceleration is very slow, you will not notice a difference with the lightened flywheel. I used an aluminum one on my street car. My race car currently runs a very light steel wheel with twin 7" disc Tilton clutch pack - not made for the street. For my current daily driver streetport 12A with IDA, I have to do a lot of stop and start creeping in heavy traffic, so I went back to a stock heavy flywheel.
