WAY WAY WAY Off Subject but maybe someone can help
Ok it's almost 6 am here I am sweating my *** off... because the a/c unit outside is not kicking on...
I need some help guys they is a black box when you take the top panel off all the power ground temp control wires run into it.... there is also I switch on the top of this box... if you push the switch to the right the unit comes on and cools fine for about 10-15 and kicks off... Any Ideas?

No it's not on a timer I will sit out there and watch the switch trip I can reach over flip it back on and the unit spins back up... it's setup like all the central ac units I've seen the box with the thermy is in the house and when it hit a certain temp <mine is set at 70> it tells the unit to go off... lol needless to say it's a cool 90 degrees
In my house now...

Do you turn it on right after it shuts off? Because if you are, I would see no problem in getting some good tape and putting the switch at ON all the time. If that still makes you nervous, tape it down still, and every hour or so, go check to see if it's running fine or shut it down for 10 minutes.
We don't get really hot temperatures way up here in Pennslyvania, so I dn't have to worry about an a/c.

i might be wrong but when a AC kicks on it'll run for a set ammount of time. that switch should be tripped by the thermostat inside the house. a AC won't run for 2 mins then turn off, it would freeze the lines. you should check the thermostat and make sure it's operating right.

I had to have my central AC serviced two days ago for the same reason.. it is a relay that turns the unit on and off... functions similar to a set of points in a distributor..if you look close you can see the points inside. If they're burnt..you are gonna have to have them replaced. Cost is about $100 for the relay. Also check the capacitor ( silver cannister looking gismo with wires plugged into the top) if it is bulged on the top or sides, it's on the way out (another $200 ). No way around it, it's gonna cost you some bucks to be cool. Good Luck
