Way of Subject but I know you guys might be able to help

I have a 92 nissan max. the temp gauge has been all over the place the last few days so I figure that I would change the t-stat. Well tonight on the way home from working it overheated. I am almost 100% positive the t-stat is stuck close, is it possible to remove the t-stat all together until I get a day off to fix it? SORRY!

Yes. but it will run cold. I wouldn't run it long that way, you could end up with hot and cold spots in the engine.

T-stat

Removing the T-stat and replacing it are the same amount of work. I take it you don't have time to go to the parts store? If you do take it out make sure you get some rain-x Anti-fog
for the windows. You will have no usage of your defrost or your heater. So don't forget to
dress in a Mummy suit,lol.

are u sure the the coolant level is full in the block? if there is an air pocket in the t-stat area so that the water/coolant isnt in contact with the t-stat it wont open.

No by pulling the t-stat it will run hot.

As it does not have time for the water to sit in the rad to cool off before going back into the engine. It will just rush through not giving it enough time to cool properly.

I know Ive done it!

Temp

Your half-right MattG. The only time their is a possibity of running hot without t-stat is when
It is hot outside. Meaning when it is hot outside. Or sometimes when you are stuck in traffic.
