water temp gauge question

water temp gauge question

i cant seem to find this hex bolt every one speaks of that you can unscrew and plug a aftermarket gauge senser into i have an 82..did it not have one? sorry i searched but i couldnt find any one showing where it is thay just said back of the water pump housing and i dont see any thing...

I think its actually the CHOKE SENDER your talking about - has a hex head - right at the top, back of the pump body - you'll see the engine harness plug into it...

Only hex bolt that I know of in the cooling system is the block drain in the bottom of the center iron on the left side.

hmm well i guess i was misinformed oh well whats the easyest way to install a aftermarket gauge?

Directly behind the water pump!!! Take that water temp plug out and replace it with a NPT autometer gauge one from jegs...

Waterpunp housing works fine, but I prefer drilling and tapping a new hole in the land, otherwise one loses the use of the auto choke feature.
