Water in the spare tire well question...
I tried the search function- but it did not work.
Ok- I have a water in the spare tire well question. It's an 85 GS- no sunroof. But I am getting water in the spare tire well- I can hear it slosh around. I open it all up and get the water out and let it dry out. But where is it coming from? I assume the hatch- but the way the hatch is designed it would seem to hold water at the back edge (by design?). Is there a hole somewhere back there that can get clogged that lets that water drain out instead of just sitting?
Any suggestions?

Yep- that was it. I had a heavy caked layer of leaves all around the back hatch, and the debris were clogging the drain hlles big time. I ran some heavy duty wead eater twine down each tube, then poured hot water down each. And I cleaned out all the debris all the way around the back hatch. I put some pretroleum jelly on the gasket and closed the hatch- I could see it was sealing all the way around. So I think I'm good to go now. :-)
I cleaned the holes and then poured soapy water on that back edge and let it get into the holes....I then cranked up the compressor and hit the holes with 150 psi blasts of air and have had no problems since...lol
