Washer idiot light
My light is always on, i have fluid in the tank but it stays on no matter what. I cleaned the contacts and checked all the wiring and all but no luck turning it off. I even tried using a wire to just short circuit the connection but still no luck. How can i turn the light off but still have the washer fluid work?

Remove the cluster and pull the bulb.
Turn the key to the "ON" postion and count the location of the "Washer Bulb"
Remember it when you pull it.
Removal
1. Remove the steering wheel.
2. Remove the 4-5 screws that hold the cluster in place.
2a. Becareful of the 2 at the top as their hard and you might strip them. Make sure you use a good #2 philip.
3. There should be about 2-4 screws that hold the actual cluster, remove those.
Heres the tricky part.
The easiest way I've found to remove the cluster is to:
1. When all the screws that hold the cluster are removed. Wiggle the cluster. To make sure you got all the screws.
2. Then slide the whole cluster to the left.
3. Then pull out the right side first slowly.
4. Reach back and remove the harnesses. Remember to press the clip as you pull. CAREFULLY
5. Count the bulbs at the bottom and remove the one for the "Washer Fluid".
6. You can just remove the bulb and twist back the "holder".
Re-Install
Reverse.
Good Luck

Replacing the sensor is probably the less labour intensive choice.
It is just a float switch.
I had a leakey fluid resivoir so I replaced it, and to replace it you need to remove the sensor. It ust pops out of the hole it is in. The sensor it's self is in a gasket. That gasket is what is inside the hole. All in all like a 5-10 min job. quite easy.
No need to pull the inside of the car all appart.

Well it seems you learn something new every day.

Coming in to this very late in the game... my low washer fluid level light stays on all the time, however it had not occurred to me until reading this thread that it may be caused because my rear wiper and washer reservoir has been removed. I've taken the front reservoir apart and cleaned everything up. The float seems to move freely, although I've yet to figure out what exact electrical readings I'm supposed to see between empty and full.
Where does the rear fluid sensor tie in to the front one?
Thanks Dave

I just pull the plastic tank and unplug the sensor.

It takes less than a minute.
