Warning To Potential Buyers
Recently I purchased a pair of CP Racing flush mount headlights for my FB. As a head's up to potential buyers of this product, based upon my experience, DONT!
My entire buying experience was completely horrible, and from what I've read on this site it wasn't the first time.
My intention was to buy the lamp casings (marked down and sent without the standard halogen Hella lights), while installing E40 Bosch HID projectors and PIAA high beam lamps into it, and then installing the lights. First the order and delivery was a complete muck. They said around 2 weeks to deliver, but actual time was 2.5 months! The only thing that slightly squelched my anger was the included 2 old issues of RXTuner, but after service like that please...
When I recieved them the quality of build was horrible: scratches on the lexan/plexiglass, inside the casing, on the paint, poorly sealed silicon caucking blobbed all over. It was an inaccurate engineering and build. The lexan was sloppily riveted to the casing and the instaillation directions consist of a manual and cardboard cut out. I basically rebuilt the thing myself, and would have saved over $300 just building it myself in the first place. Had to spend money and cut out new plexiglass covers, and drill them. This was because they didn' line up with the body at all and were scratched to hell. I then re-cut new sheet metal on/and repainted the casings, taking my time to do it right and leave it nearly flawless looking.
In conclusion, the flush mount lights were a great idea and look extremely sharp with HID projectors in them. But as a warning to potential buyers of this product, I would try doing it yourself or finding another manufacturer because by the time you figure it out and build them it will cost less frustration and money than purchasing from "CP Racing and Designs."

Perhaps you should reverse-engineer the assembly, and give a write up on how others could construct their own. If you were able to rebuild them yourself, you know how they are constructed more-or-less. Tell us how we can all make a set!

Interested, and sorry to hear about your issues man.
So has anyone kept track of unhappy CP customers? I've only seen one so far, I'm serious BTW. SNMC or SMNC was is screen name.

Old news, mine were made with 2 left mounting brackets 4 months after I ordered them.
Had to fix them only to have 2 lenses crack weeks after installing. worst $ ever spent. Glad I got some of it back from selling them on eBay.

Somewhere i read they were in toronto... maybe us GreaterTorontoArea rotorheads should organize a lynching.
Imagine thirty first gens storming their office like angry bees, owners brandishing eccentric shafts and evil glares! we could steal the plans to everything and post em online.

Disgruntled, I also raise my e-shaft in anger
lol, that would be hilarious...but also i'm pretty sure they dont have a patent on any of their home made style products, so it really wouldnt be illegal either. Disgruntled, I also raise my e-shaft in anger

i would also refer to some of the complaints in this thread/sticky: "the good bad and ugly of performance parts..."https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/good-bad-ugly-performance-parts-suppliers-480076/
it shows more CP Racing complaints/opinions

Them having a patent on there products would be a joke. That means that they would have to get off there lazy asses and actually do work. OMG - whats that they said, quailty.
I'm disgruntle too.

I believe this topis has been bought up more than once, and I believe we taked about CP racing being one or two guys in a backyard garage or perhaps a small commercial shop.
While I don't particularly like the business practices of CP Racing, I'm sure they work pretty hard but have just bitten off way more than they can chew. Chris Campitelli really needs to employ more people, and put some time into QC.
Didn't the same thing happen to Paul Yaw?
As far as reverse engineering goes. I don't think it's cool to go doing that...
Take it apart for ideas and such, but don't just go copying it exactly.

****ty Tune= Low #'s
sometime next week im going down to a friends metal working shop and we are going to work out some plans for light buckets on my FB...depending on how it works out i could just make blanks and then sell them off to ya'll so that you could place any lights you want in them and get laxan covers for them..
im thinking about not putting covers on mine..i just going to make the bucket along with painted flat black or somthing...and then have a rectanlge light as my low beam and a oval/circle light as my high beam which would be just offset to the side of it..and then under the bumper ( but placed far back so that they cant be seen ) i want some Piaa pencil beam lights and some normal fog lamps
OR!!!! i want to just place one large ( 2nd gen style) lamp inside my buckets which has a low and high beam...which might take some of that tacky looking multi light setup look away.
^^^^^^^ what would look kool with that setup would be to place the headlight covers back on the car but set paraell to the ground giving that sleeper look but not conflicting with the light beam itself...they sell kits like this for 240sx's and it looks like this....(see my pics)

For my supra I have a control box I bought that allows me to adjust how far the headlights open. So I have it set so they only open about halfway and have smaller round halogen style bulbs/housings mounted. Looks pretty cool and the control box only cost me like 70 bucks. I'll have to remember where the hell I got it from...was a few years ago that I got it.

I really like the dual 4 inch round lights in the stock retractable system that EVERYONE keeps talking about producing but nobody has come up with...
Time to cut up a Miata kit.

I'll have to get some pics up from my supra. I mounted the lights right to the top of the housing, and then molded some fiberglass surrounds so they look nice and clean...I won't have time to make a kit for the RX yet, still working on the replacement dash mold as of now...but i'll try and get a pic of what i did for my supra in the next couple days, gotta clear out around it in the garage and take the cover off lol.
