how much timing does the 12A turbo dizzy offer?

Okay so I have heard that the 12a Turbo distributor only advances enough to handle 5 psi of boost. Does anyone know if this is true??
And second.
How much timing does it retard??
Anyone have some info??

Nobody has proven what it actually retards. Some people state 6 degrees, others, 10, and even 21 degrees of timing.

I don't know. I never bothered to use mine, because I went back to my E6K.

I Do know that I have an original 12A Turbo distributor for sale, $175 plus shipping.

I am also going to be selling my Blow-through prepped and tested Holley 650dp carburator soon.

Just testing the waters..

a drift event i went to not to long ago had a guy using a turboed FB but his setup confused me....

from what i remember he said he had...ported the engine, but used T2 housing an se- front cover se- rotors and a 12at dizzy.. but then talking about it he said he was running around 8 to 9 psi

but i know for sure he had a 12at dizzy and was running more then 6psi

The capacity of the dizzy may or may not be 6psi of boost. That's why I started this thread. He may have been running more boost than 6psi but do we know if the dizzy was able to retard for more than that???
As far as the rest of his setup that's actually pretty common to me out here.
I see SE/turbo hybrid motors all the time.

How do I lock a standard dizzy......I searched and got two different methods that I didn't totally understand.
Also if I run a locked dizzy won't my low power under boost be crappy??
What about street driving??
It seems to me it would be ****.

You can run as much boost as you want with a 12A turbo dizzy... if you retard the static timing enough. Same goes for any dizzy. The question is how many degrees of boost retard does it have?

street driving is completely fine. my car feels just as good off boost as it ever did. honestly better. timing is locked at 10 degrees.

if you've got an intercooler, you can run more timing. on the efi cars we're usually running 12-14btdc L around 10psi (we've got poor quality fuel). prolly not gonna make much difference though...

your gas mileage would improve if you had working vacuum advances, you want more timing cruising.

12a turbo dizzy has a max retard of 5 degrees... but it still uses the centrifical advance weights that advance the timing 20 degrees...
lock your distributor , and set it at 10 degrees

What if you remove the advance weights? Then you could still have vacuum advance and boost retard available.

ok, so screw the 12a turbo dizzy that I have since I still can't get a confirmed answer on how much timing it retards on boost. Everyone has a different number to answer with.
I'm just going to run a locked dizzy then.

680rwhp12a does the 12a turbo dizzy have both advance under vacuum and retard under boost????

Why? The vacuum advance plate is completely seperate to the centrifugal mechanism on the dizzy shaft.
