Karmanghia is how you spell it...I think. I don't know if this is correct, but I seem to remember some people putting 5.0's in those things. Not sure, but I think so. If it is stock you should take him easy.

yeah when i first had my SE stock except Lightend Steel FLywheel and 4.44 gears. i stomped on a camero or firebird i pretty it was a camero though, but only till the middle of third. we hit a light and took off i spun 1st and fished into 2nd took him from the start then middle of 3rd he started gaining. but by then we almost hit the 1/4mi and i was still 2-3ft on his bumper. i was suprised thinking hell yeah for sure V-6 maybe 350. so i asked him he said it was a 280 or 305 **** i cant remember. but not 350. so yeah man, there heavy as ****. ill run any V-6 to see where my stock SE stands but if i see one of the big guys 350's or the SS's....damn **** that if the guys a **** i wont even give him the pleasure.

sorry for the long post..

The Karman Ghia is an old school Bug with a different body. While some people do put Porsche engines in them, you have to remember the engines they use were engines of that same era. That was at the time when Porsche and VW were basically the same, small differences for a bit more power but still not really fast. Now the thing is that alot of people do put alot of work into these engines and can make them pretty damn fast, but if it is stock or even a stock Porsche engine you should still be able to take the VW.

Plus there's no dishonor in being beaten by a sleeper - their sneakiness makes the game more fun.

Race it and post it!!!!

There's no telling what the guy has in the Ghia. If it's stock, it's slow. If he wants to race, it's probably NOT stock. Could be pretty fast. I have seen some really fast VW Beetles, which is basically what this is.

Pretty easy to drop a porsche flat 6 in those things. From there on who knows how much work the 6 had. If that's the case then who knows about the outcome. The only problem with that swap is the flat 6's aren't cheap and cost some money to build. Most of the people don't put a porsche 6 in a Ghia. It's kind of like putting a FD drivetrain in an FC.

If you are worried about beating a stock VW (KG) then you need not worry about a Z28 Camaro... at all. A z28 Camaro Convertible and Automatic will beat you.

If the VW is Classic Stock, park it in your rearview... No problem.

I wasn't worried about the Z28, I knew he was going to punch out... I wanted to see if I could hang... and I did... but for the KARMAN GHIA... they wanna race me for $100... and $100 is I think a lot for one race... they say its a regular 4 banger... but I could sense some lie in there...

Check out the motor and see his mods. If its stock and your car is running well and you can drive you will dust him. But you have to ask why he wants to race. Either its not stock or he is a moron.

according to the Kill Section's posting rules......

- All threads that ask about an outcome of a race such as "FD vs. Supra" that actually didn't happen are to be placed in that generations specific section if it involves an RX-7, all other "vs." threads that don't involve an RX-7 (and ask about the outcome of a race) should be in the General Automotive section. The kills section is just for kill stories, not for performance questions. We will stop moving threads and just delete them from now on. So if you are wondering why the thread you just posted isn't there anymore, you now know why.

I'm not deleting this thread but I WILL move it to the first gen section.

Don't always doubt a all motor vdub. My old 73 bug, it ran a 13.8 at palmdale. The motor I built was balanced and blue printed 1835, w160 cam, decked heads, 10.1:1 compression, strait cut gears, dual weber 48ifs... on and on.. This one guy I met had a black karmann ghia that had 2267 that he drove on the stree every day and it ran mid 12s...

sigh now I just gotta get started on my bridge port motor... so i can get times like that
