racing beat muffler for FB is also restrictive... not worth the price for that thang
i've always thought that if people are gonna go RB, they could save themselves a whole lot of money by just getting a used 3rd Gen. FD muffler.. friend, junkyard, etc.
think out of the box
need i say more?

Borla is by far superior.... Expensive, loud with a presilencer, but awesome. I personally can not stand that little tin can sound from the RB or the VB. I also had a Flowmaster, semi-loud, but better than the other two.
definately don't want the coffee can sound....but a nice low tone growl at idle...frankly anything other than my current muffler(blown out), sounds like a pissed off lawn mower, lol.....I've looked at the Borlas, anyone here with personal experience?
well, it looks as if opinions on mufflers are just like a--holes, everyone's got one. As far as my question about the sound, I don't want something that sounds like a tin can, I've got that now. My dad says he's found a VB muffler that was only used a month before the car was trashed that he can get me for $82, that's half what they want in the VB catalog, I can afford much more, should I buy it?
i just got a vb muffler for my car. it does sound a bit like a tin can, but it isn't that bad. i would have to hear a rb muffler to say which sounds better, but for $80 i wouldn't care what it sounds like. i wish i found a deal like that. besides, how much of a low rumble can a rotary sound like? it's not like a v-8. if i find something better i will go with it, but for now, i will accept the pissed of bee in a tin can sound.
i have a RB header, presilencer, RB's 2" pipes, to a 3" fart can i got off ebay for like $30 shipped... and its loud as crap, and shoots flames! i like it but i wish it wasnt as loud, the office people at my apt siad that i had" 30 complaints" but i think they are stretching it alittle bit.

Oki guys, I have already wasted my money on a Monza exhuast that VB sells. First off, muffler is already falling apart after 6 months of use. I hear a constant rattling noise IN the muffler, I assume I blew out a baffle or something or who knows. As far as sound goes, it's not THAT bad. Definitely not that tin/fart sound you hear in those typcial riced out hondas. Much better tone in my opinion. Had I paid $100 for it, I'd be happy and wouldn't care...but I paid almost $200 for it and well..that sucks. I haven't heard what any of the other exhuast setups sound like.
My setup is as follows:
Oldschool Header>Oldschool presilencer>Stock Connecting Pipe>VB Monza Exhaust
People have said my car sounds really nice..or cool. And again, I stress that there is no fart sound or tin can sound. Unless something else in the exhuast system of yours is making that sound. But if you stand behind the muffler itself it lets out a nice low rumble at idle and while driving it's still a nice even tone and again, IS NOT the typical fart can sound you hear in those wide open POS mufflers you see on ricers.
So yeah, you could go with the VB, but I think in the end I would turn back time and decided to save up the extra cash and go for the RB setup. It's direct bolt on so you can do it yourself and from what I've heard, you can't seem to go wrong with RB. Definitely sounds like alot of quality.

Well, finally someone with a straight answer, not that I mind all the talk, but I'm looking for an answer. After talking with my dad, he says the muffler is $50 and shipping is 32, I'm guessing that's less than half what VB wants ($169 + $25). So if it doesn't sound like a tin can, I think it's probable a good deal and I should buy it.
Goodluck with whatever you choose. You can figure you pay for what you get, ya know? I'm sure the VB exhaust ain't the best and probably isn't going to be worth it in the long run. I've still got mine on my car, but I plan on getting rid of it soon and buy a RB exhaust. Sad thing is, I wouldn't be able to find anyone who would want to buy it since the muffler is already blown. (That rattle noise on decel and sometimes at idle) Wish I could get a sound clip of it, but I don't have one of those digital recorders...maybe I can use my phone..haha
So yeah, if you need an exhuast right now this instant, like I did..get the VB, not a bad deal...sounds like you're getting it pretty cheap. If I was able to go longer without an exhaust I would have saved up more and got the RB.

I got the VB muffler for my old car. It sounded good the first 2 weeks it was on there, but after that it started going down hill. After 3 months it was just as loud as my original muffler (and that one had the whole bottom blown off)
I have the racing beat muffler costs more, but you get what you pay for in the long run... It lasts a lot longer.
