Just flipping through the new Vic British catalogue that showed up in the mail I noticed that the side windows are listed as tinted. Were all factory windows tinted a bit cause I don't think mine are at all. Has anyone actually purchased a window from them - are they noticeably darkenned at all?

Along the same lines I've always wanted tinted side windows but the cops around here are pretty pissy about things like that. The actual law is that applying material to the glass is illegal - the color is not a factor. So if I could ever get custom glass that was darkenned it would be legal. Anyone ever hear of someone making dark aftermarket glass or else is there a process to "smoke" windows?

 

If I'm not mistaken the -SE windows were, -SE owners?? I know my -SE's were when I got it and it seems every -SE I see the windows are tinted.

 

Hmm mine aren't. The tint is dark enough that it's definately noticeable? Mine was in an accident so maybe they were replaced at that time.

All the GSLSE windows are tinted: either blue, green, or bronze.

 

my gsl-se windows are untinted, but buying those replacement windows sounds like a legal way to make them tinted here in michigan. say those are factory replacements and bam i bypass the alw

 

Are you sure? Tinted glass was standard equipment on ALL RX-7 models and I have never seen one that was not tinted. Unless someone replaced your glass with clear untinted aftermarket?

I have three original peices of glass left on my GSL (83). The triangels, and the hatch.

They are all tinted **** yellow (may have been that bronze back in the day. Okay, so they sort of are bronze )

At first, I thought it was my mirror. . . .

Maybe the 20year old tint is just too faded to notice...

 

The side triangles and the rear hatch are i believe. Not my side windows thou
