Vibration woes
Hey guys, my 83 GSL has developed a vibration/sound during low-mid speed right turns. Seems more prominent under braking. Any thoughts/ help appreciated.

Sounds like front wheel bearings to me. Have a friend on that side confirm that it's coming from the wheel and you're probably well served to change front wheel bearings on BOTH sides - if one side is bad the other is sure to follow.
Wheel bearing change is straightforward work, and the parts can be found through VB or Mazdatrix at good prices - about $50 per wheel for both bearings, inner and outter, and the oil seal. Get new parts all around to be sure that it works correctly. Another $3 for cotter pins of the correct size, and you have all that you need, short of a bearing greaser and a grease gun. Do not reuse the cotter pins to avoid any potential problems with the metal fatiguing and breaking off the cotter pin - which could allow the stop nut to turn loose - oops, there goes a wheel/tire...
Removal of the hub is easy enough - check on search to find the torque specs for setting the new bearing pre-load and getting them done right the first time. We had a thread open on this about a month ago when I did my front wheel bearings and learned a few things. HTH,

thanks
Thanks guys. I had suspected it was the brake rotors, but when it started occuring without me applying the brakes I got a bit worried. When the snow melt here I'll take a good look at everything, thanks again!
