Question Vibration on take off

I need help diagnosing a vibration I get with the engine warm on take off in 1st before the clutch pedal is fully released. I thought that I was getting wheel hop the first time it happened, but I take off way too slow the rest of the time.

There is no vibration when the engine is cold, but as it warms up the vibration shows up gradually and gets worst and worst. But only in 1st, when warm, before the clutch pedal is fully released.

I get around this by using 2nd, then there is no vibration, cold or hot.

I removed the driveshaft and inspected the front and rear u-joints but found nothing...

only when launching? does it minimize when doing power launches?

kinda a "shuddashuddashuddashuddavoooooooom!"?

if so, look up the "hockey puck mod" - replacing your motor mount rubbers with hockey pucks (or expensive urethane jobbies)
i just learned to live with it, the car vibes enough with the thunderous exaust.

Only when launching.

Feels like the Hulk is shaking the car, but only until the clutch pedal is let out.

I'll check the motor mounts tomorrow and I'll have to try a power launch.

Clutch chatter!

Get a new one and have your flywheel resurfaced.

So this would happen only in 1st and not 2nd?

It would be way more noticable when rolling of the line/slipping a little bit to get going.

You release the pedal much quicker when shifting through the gears at speed.

My Supra does it a little.

Exactly, I release the pedal much faster at speed, but when I drive off in 2nd from a standing stop I have to ride the clutch longer yet I don't get any vibration.

Crazy.

Clutch/flywheel is still my guess though.

Mine started doing this so I started taking longer on my release of the clutch and it went away.

it sounds like clutch chatter!

you're putting far more load on the clutch by starting in 2nd gear, therefore it doesn't chatter.

my talon does this too, I just got used to it.

ChatterChatterChatterChatter. Had a '83 Maxima that did the same thing after I fubar'd a clutch installation (not properly centered).

By starting off in 2nd gear, you are feathering the clutch more, thereby reducing the contact pressure. Once you get going and release the pedal, it can't chatter.

You have either warped the fly or pp, or have some serious burn spots on both, or all of the above.

You may get by with just having the fly and pp resurfaced, but I would replace the the pp, disc, tob, pilot bearing and resurface the fly. Then follow the manufacturers break in, to a tee.

^^^ This all sucks ^^^

I just got the car. I put about 250 miles on it and now this.

Lucky for me winter is coming and I'll be able to freeze my fingers off removing the transmission. At least I have a sheltered spot to work on it.
