Its not that hes an uninformative smart ***, its more of the fact that probably 90% of the people that joined this forum started out doing the exact same thing you just did, asking the same questions right off the bat. So, logically thinking you could find the answers hundreds of times simply by searching for what youre looking for before posting it.

Anyway, as this is a forum and nothing would happen if no one asked anything heres what Ive got to say on the subject.

Keeping it on the road is just like any other car. Mind your oil changes, fuel filter, spark plus, air filters, dizzy cap and rotor, etc. Just regular maintenence and repair. Dont overheat it, dont baby it around, dont over-rev it, dont use Autolite spark plugs (NGK is the way to go), dont rice it out.

Replacing the apex seals is a complete engine rebuild, get a manual and read about it first. This can be costly because of all the seals (about $900 if I remember right), and if you need new housings which is likely because of the flaking of material (about $300 each new). While its apart you might want to look into porting it (enlarging the holes for bringing in air/fuel and expelling exhaust) to get some more power, but then you would need to re-jet the carb to compensate, and change the exhaust to get the full effect. Look into ignition upgrades (search for dlidfis or dual leading ignitor ignition system), but make sure you understand the stock ignition and how it works before messing with all that. Check that you have a fuel pump capable of enough flow for that carb, and make sure you have a regulator and gauge for the proper pressure.

As you can see, there are all kinds of things you can do, you just need to search around, and figure out what you want to do.

EDIT: Personally, I would go through and replace things that need to be replaced before trying to sqeeze every ounce of power out of it. Clean it up see what leaks, check for corroded wires and connectors, check the brakes, check out bushings, etc. Just make sure its mechanically sound before you go and trick it out. No sense going 120 MPH (on a track of course) and not being able to steer because the bushings are 20+ years old, then not being able to stop because the brake pads are gone.

If people just did searches instead of asking, specially when you are new, forums would not be very much fun to visit. The reason to come into a forum is not only to find information but to interact with other people that are into the things you enjoy.

So Welcome to all new guys and enjoy!

There are three links on the top of this forum. Perhaps this visual aid will help you find them.

Now then. After you have read those links and used the button and if you still can't find what you're looking for, post a question.

In the meantime, don't be a dick and stop wasting our time.

It's you're an *******. As in 'you are.'

Other than that and other grammatical errors, you're quite right.

I am an *******.

It could be worse though.

I could post about humping pillows ad naeusum and use inane abbreviations like LOLLOOOLOOOLLLOOLLOLOLO!!!!ONE11!ONE!!11!!!

Oh wow, this is a brutal thread. However, I did find the "visual aid" quite funny, lol. Anyway, I agree with Myc1972, which is why I POLITELY helped him with the searching idea, and helped him with his questions. Luckily I was feeling patient.
