Unhappy Very discouraging

I've been lucky with rx-7's in the past as far as mechanical issues. I've owned 82/83/84/91 rx7's and as you can see I love them to death. I never really enjoyed the 2nd gen as much as I did my 1st gens. None of 1st gens ever gave me problems, ever.

Now, after not owning a 7 for 6 years I decided to buy one, which is the one I've been posting about the past few weeks since I got it. Its an 81 GSL, and it has been nothing but trouble. Suspension falling apart, oil leaking from 3 to 4 different spots. I really feel I got screwed because the owner told me it only needed a rear bearing, which turned out to be a bent axle that no one has. Eventually I found one with drums instead of disc like mine and had to pay twice the labor to install it.

so far I've spent more than what the car cost me. I wouldnt mind if it were upgrades, but its not, its all fixing ****. I just wanted a car that I can drive every other day or on cool days and have fun with it, and to keep the miles low on my show car. I just cant keep dumping money into like this. If it was once a month, sure, but every single day I find something else and I just feel bad driving it and making it worse.

The clock shows 135k miles and Im thinking maybe its best to save some money, get a new engine and restore the car. But that means its going to have to sit for a year or two. The engine runs STRONG, thats whats killing me, I just know that Im tearing it up with all the problems it has.

Today is decision day. Either I continue fixing the car or its going to sit under a tarp.

Not a happy campers rant, DONE!

I say that you sell it to someone looking for a project car, and use the money from the sale to put towards an SA/FB in better condition. You'll probably have to put more cash up for the better car, but in the long run, you will probably save money.

That's just my opinion, though...
