Smile various oil leaks

hey all, ive been with the 2nd gen forum since i was 17 (4 yrs) so im not completely lost. However, I have yet to take apart the omp, oil cooler (under filter), and oil pan. I believe that each one has an oil leak, and today I made a visit to roger beasley Mazda. I purchased an OMP gasket, and two o rings that go under the oil cooler, which again, i believe is leaking.

the real question is, as im pretty familiar with the 86's omp, and it has one of the copper washers (or gasket) between the pump and the oil lines, does the 83 gsl have that too? the only thing that mazda had on their diagrams was the gasket between the pump and the front cover.

has anyone used the felpro oil pan gasket from autozone? any opinions? fitment?

can anyone also shed some light on the oil cooler issue, all i needed was the 2 o rings? if you know, please let me know so i can start this project.

Never had my OMP apart, sorry.

This site has the FSM and parts fiches for 1st gen RX-7's

www.wankel.net/~krwright

That should answer your question.

As for the oil cooler, there are 2 orings under it, along with 2 more between the mounting plate and the cooler itself.

I believe there is just the gasket between the OMP and the front cover, since the 12A uses rubber elbows and plastic OMP injection lines.
The FEL-PRO gasket should be fine, as most of theirs are among the best available.
As for the thread I linked you to, look at the top of the 1st gen section, where it lists the archive. That thread is the latest archived thread, and has been visible the whole time. The info contained in it was deemed to have great value, hence the reason it was moved to the archives. Lots of great threads are listed there, so they don't get lost in the main section.
