vapor lock?

I recently bought a stock 85 gs, and the previous owner told me that if I try to drive it before it warms up nd idles down, the engine will "vapor lock" and won't run for a couple hours. Has anyone heard of this, and is it a common problem, is there something wrong with my car, or is this guy confused?

Thanks

Well, I'm not sure of the specifics about your engine (any mods?), but I've only ever been able to get my car to vapor-lock when I'm running gas with ethanol added (in the summer, even), which is more volatile than gas without it, so it vaporizes more easily, and would cause the car to die If I ran it for a while (thus heating up the engine), then shut it off, and then restarted it without letting the engine cool down for more than an hour or so.

Its a common issue with rotarys. It may or may not be vapor lock, but when the cars get moved to a new parking space or aren't allowed to heat up, they often won't restart.

There are links in the sticky FAQ thread at the top of the forum.
