UUUGGGHH!!! I hate pistons!
Ok im having a hell of a time doing this brake job which is taking me a week and going. the problem i am having is that on the rear caliper( which is stock i think) the piston will not retract at all so i cant get the brake pads in at all. i have searched this alot and am coming up with nothing oh the car is a 85 gsl se
as said before it screws in, they do have the tool, but i didn't have a ride to go to the auto parts store, so i grabbed some pliers and GENTLY gripped at the center and turned, it just takes a little bit longer this way.
I know this i have screwed clockwise as my book says no luck with pliers i tried like 5 different types of pliers and i did it hard!!! still no luck you think i should just go with some new calipers??? or what
You can get them at napa, advanced, checker, autozone, etc. And are about 12 bucks. They chuck right into a driver just like a socket.

You can fix stuck calipers. You need to rebuild them, it's not hard but parts could be a pain to fix.
I never had this problem on my rx-7s, but i had to rebuilt my tiburon calipers. Also sometime the pistons in the bracket it self can get stuck.

True that! about a month ago a simple rear pad change turned into a caliper rebuild to a "**** that" situation, and outta frustration i just pulled the calipers off my parts car to put onto my daily. The piston was tighter than a nun.
I was turning clockwise then went counter for the hell of it. no luck ugh im getting now ones and will probably just rebuild them and have some extras. but yeah i really dont like rear calipers now hahah

They do have a tool at the autopart stores that makes it easier.
